Incidentally and veering more off topic, a chap called Charlie Kavanagh from Freshford should make himself known to the wider hurling community following the Squad competitions this weekend. He’ll be playing with Powers young lad in the TF.
You heard wrong, hes decent enough but no better than another 10 lads and a good bit behind where Richie was at 14.t’s ridiculous how some of these young lads get hyped up.
Charlie Kavanagh is a good lad too but no huge star at the same time.
Here’s 4 decent TF tournament Kilkenny players for the weekend…
Padraig Meaney Clara…midfield
Dylan Brennan Gowran…class little keeper
Kyrell Mtinsi O Loughlins…a corner back massive pace and power hurling needs honing still but he has a chance.
Jack Bolger Barrow Rangers…around midfield too…small but a class little lad…all the skills.
Ever seen any of those lads play Malarkey?..of course you haven’t too busy pontificating about the past.
You’re making a clown out of yourself here bigging up children on an anonymous internet forum. Leave them hurl away and we can assess them when they’re u20
You have to understand that this is the way of it in KK - players at the TF/u-14 age grade are noticed and spoken about. When someone is talking about a kid coming up, you’d either be told that he’s on the Forrestal panel, or not far off it, or if not told, you’d ask in order to gauge if he’s any good or not.
I’m not…if fellas are going to be held up as a final reference point for all matters Kilkenny hurling they need to educate themselves in all aspects of it not just who was the better wing forward in 2004…it’s the likes of you has him getting way way ahead of himself
I’m from Kilkenny. I never heard conversations like that but was in a city club so probably different.
I still think naming u14s on here is odd behaviour
No, I have not. But I get the impression you want the answer to be a certain way, which is interesting. I live in town and regularly watch juvenile matches in the three town grounds.
I repeat: do you want to answer my question? Do you want to ask that question in person? If not, why not, since you are so exercised?
Cha Fitzpatrick is the best hurler I’ve ever seen in front of juvenile posts,he was absolutely class, thankfully we lived in an era where I didn’t have to wait until he was 19 or 20 to tell anyone about him.
Most of these youngsters and their parents love the sport and are delighted to be seen as. A prospect. Hurling is to be enjoyed.
That was always the way of the chat out in the hurling shed back in the day. I’d have sons of cousins and you’d hear that they are good. But then the TF question comes up, as a marker as to where they are at.
Agree on the naming of children on an internet forum.
