If you were a professional footballer

Newcastle is a good shout tbf.

I’d be a Barca man ahead of Real Madrid.

I’d be Real all day. If you’re not throwing managers under the bus you’re winning European Cups.

And their song is way better.

There’s always something beautiful about Barcelona.

@anon98850436 was a promising footballer, got destroyed by a kid called Leroy.and went on a different path

I showed plenty of promise as a young lad on the streets and there was a bidding war between Galway Utd and Athlone Town but then the big boys in Dubling stepped in and Shamrock Rovers made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. Literally.
But I did the right thing and joined Bohs instead because their community spirit spoke to me as a young man. Then after tearing it up in the eircom league one of Forests scouts snapped me up. Stuart Pearce was manager and together we brought Forest back to the big time and won 3 Champions Leagues in a row beating Liverpool in the final each time. Then there was a bidding war and all the big clubs in Europe were after me, Real, Barca, Man U, Man City, Chelsea,Bayarn, Roma the Milans, but I went to Juve as they were paying me 5 mill a week.
At that point the success had got to my head and I was drinking and partying hard living La Dolce Vita, hanging with the Happy Mondays and banging everything in sight most notably a Tuscan supermodel, a member of the cast off Friends(female) and some hot 21 year old member of the royal family called Tabatha.

The media took me to town once they got hold of that story and it affected my mental health, I couldn’t even walk my dog without some prick shoving a camera in my face. What the media didn’t understand was that I actually really loved Tabatha and I really thought we could make it work. The damage was done though and I ended up losing everything in the greatest most epic drink and drug fuelled orgy that went on for the guts of 5 years. Thankfully Juve were kind enough to have a testimonial where I made a few quid back so I bought a bar in Cairo and proceeded to spend the rest of my days playing Joe McDonnell in the corner for anyone else who was happened to be mouldy enough to listen.

As regards my International career in my first World Cup I single handedly powered Ireland to the Final but missed the deciding penalty in the shoot out against Germany. The nation forgave me but I never forgave myself. I was on the bottle by the time of the 2nd World Cup and clocked the manager who just happened to be Mick McCarthy before the start of our first game against Bulgaria. Big Mick never walked again and I never played for Ireland again. The End.

I have reassessed and now go with the following.

17 - Waterford United get within a whisker of winning the League.

18 - Move to Reading and win promotion in first season. Second season, keep them in Premier League.

20 - Big move to Man United, in 5 seasons, win 3 Premier League medals, FA Cup and Champions League.

25 - Big Move to Real Madrid and win 3 Champions League’s in a row. By year 4 , form has fallen off a cliff and club agree i can leave on Free at the end of season. Have a late season renaissance and drive team to fourth Champions League final in a row but lose on penalties. Fans sad I’m leaving.

29 - Move to Juve on a free and win league twice but not the force of old.

31 - Move to Newcastle for a year and get Relegated . Hated by the fans.

32 - Back to Waterford but Contract terminated after 5 months for failing to show up.

That’s quite similar to Gazza’s career trajectory.

A short stint as well at the other club who’s result I look out for, Preston North End to finish off my playing days. Maybe a player manager role there as well like Sir Bobby Charlton.

Ok. I’ll bite.

Career civil servant where you’re “entitled” to your sick days and you can book holidays where you’re actually off and not checking emails all the time.

Hmm
Man City
Whichever big Italian or Spanish club was paying the most
PSG
Celtic for a brief spell (to play in a couple of old firm games)
America somewhere nice like Boston or NYC or Colorado
Japan for a final big payday.

I’d go for a journeyman career ending up in Cyprus or something like that.
