Dublin firefighter charged with rape during St Patrickā€™s celebrations in Boston

A member of Dublin Fire Brigade who was in the United States with colleagues for St Patrickā€™s Day celebrations at the weekend has been charged with the alleged rape of a woman at a hotel in Boston.

It is alleged that Terrence Crosbie (37) raped a 28-year-old woman at the Omni Parker House in Boston last Friday and, after being interviewed by local police, booked an earlier flight home but was taken off the plane after he had boarded it.

According to a statement from the Suffolk County Districtā€™s Attorneyā€™s office, Mr Crosbie was charged in Boston Municipal Court Central Division with one count of rape and ordered to be held on $100,000 (ā‚¬92,000) bail.

He was also ordered not to leave Massachusetts and to surrender his passport pending his next court appearance on April 16th.

Trying to leave early not a great look. Sounds like he could be in bother.

I thought that too, and it sounds like theyā€™ve a fair bit to go on, enough to stop the plane on the tarmac, and to actually be aware of his attempted flight, but thereā€™s also the vagaries of American justice that would put fear into anyone.

Seems like he moved his flight forward by a few days and then went to the airport and went for an earlier flight than the one he re-booked for so he was in an awful hurry.

That would have been the more obvious option but jaysus it sounds like heā€™s in a world of trouble one way or another. There seems to have been a level of cunning involved, but given the gravity of the charges one would imagine he may have been extradited?

Iā€™d say so yea.
Thereā€™s probably more to the story as there always is but if his efforts at getting away are signs of guilt then so be it. Thereā€™s a victim to consider also.

There is absolutely.

That doesnā€™t read well at all. He clearly knew that something major was in the offing. The septic tanks did well to nab him when they did. Odd that the complainant was also in court when he was brought in.

Are you not just reading the bit that they were in the same venue at the same time on Thursday? Or is there another piece about her being in court?

I misread that.

He was sharing a room with another lad who was passed out but seems to have woken up and witnessed the incident or at least aftermath

Itā€™s further down the article on that abomination of a site.

The victim went back to room a colleague and they had consensual sex. The colleague passed out and Crosby allegedly came into the room a couple of hours later and sexually assaulted her.

Edit:
Crosbie was reportedly seen on surveillance footage entering the hotel room about two hours after the alleged victim and his roommate entered. He then allegedly began sexually assaulting the woman, who told police she told him to stop but he said, ā€˜This guy is sleeping. I know you want this.ā€™

The alleged victim told police on Friday at Massachusetts General Hospital that she had been sexually assaulted earlier the same day
