Anyone recommend a place in Limerick/Cork to get fitted for orthotics? Iâve been told I have flat feet. Unless anyone can recommend someone in Offaly to save me the journey.
Edit: Also do any of ye know of any recommended foot doctors around the munster area?
That chap I went to gave me a set for 100 notes - they are not the moulded gait analysis yolks that cost over 300 notes- He said I can come back and get those if I wish- but gave me ready made ones that he added additions to relevant to my symptoms (flat feet, one leg slighter longer than the other) they have worked a treat and have taken the pressure right off my back which was causing my S.I joint problems. the pre made ones he gave me will last for 2 years and he said call back anytime if the additions come loose etc. He will obviously examine you first but wonât try and get you to splash out on the more expensive ones if he thinks you donât need them⌠If anything, as with Glas above, he called a lot of these fuckers doing gait, cowboys. The first thing he will do is look at your foot wear and tell you to cop the fuck on if they have no support.

Orthotics have brought me instant relief, mate. They may only be masking an underlying problem but if they can take away someoneâs pain I wouldnât so easily dismiss them. Of course the problem will need to be tackled for long term resultsâŚ

I believe a lot of issues come from footwear with too much support. We weaken our ankles and inhibit natural planter and dorsi-Flexion over time. When we try to do anything strenuous or that needs good strength an movement weâre goosed as the ankle is weakened.
I get where you are coming from⌠but my problem was a total lack of support in the footwear I was wearing, compounded with the S.I issues⌠Having fucked up ankles I do calf raises constantly while just standing around, or walk around on tippy toes⌠I do (or did) find working out better without footwear however.
Youâre problem is entirely psychosomatic. What you needed was someone to win your trust and then prescribe some sort of placebo miracle cure. It could have been a homeopath giving you sugar pills or a witch doctor selling magic beans. True to your personality you went for the physio who gave you the inside track on all the other cowboy physios and saved you 200 notes to boot. Once he had won you over he could have rode you up the arse to straighten your spine or made orthotics for you on the spot from some leftover cardboard but whatever he did would have worked. Anyway, Iâm glad your pain has cleared up.
I was also recieving sports massage therapy and reflexology, mate. In the end, the fright I got when your ma stuck her finger up my arse jolted my back into place- I just dinât want to embarrass you and totally invented the physio story instead.
Could be that you go better on soft ground. Iâd say have a cut at the national this weekend if the rain keeps up. After that just hit the paddock til the ground softens up and aim yourself at a decent handicap mark so you can have a crack at something around christmas.
Lay off the internet and go out and try and meet a lady and youâll find youâre not sustaining these sort of injuries. Prevention is better than cure.

I am not well informed when it comes to this stuff, please explain. How can a functional movement coach solve flat feet.
About a minute drive from the crescent shopping centre- Next to the motor tax office- If you donât drive, the 304 bus stops across the road from his house and passes every 20 minutes.
Fair enough, thatâs a dam good legitimate reason to do so. I hadnât looked at it from that POV, in fact I didnât even think it could be that sore.
