Injuries

Itā€™s beareable pain- but one that is constant and you can get no relief from no matter what way you shift your body or weight, it also travels, insofar as it could be hip one minute, groin the next- but always constant lower back painā€¦ but long term, I obviously need to correct a lot of issues.

Itā€™s all about posture, something up along your kinetic chain is out if sync. Itā€™s probably something created from a long way back. A FMS (or a Physio that way inclined, some are old school and take their teachings from a different generation of, IMO, less informed scientists and therapists) will check several different moves and by powers of deduction should figure out a few things for you.
There are students in Setanta and LIT who would be mad for the experience to test you. It may not cost you anything more than your time and it will give you a more rounded perspective on it all. You may still get ortotics in the end, but youā€™ll have an idea of what corrections you need to make. But ortotics are really just the same as taking pain killers for sciatica, you have to deal with it eventually.

Got a call from the receptionist for the hip consultant chap in Santry Sports Clinic earlier and the next available appointment is early May - he only has two or three days per month set aside for appointments.

While this has benefits in that any potential surgery could conceivably be arranged around World Cup time and allow me to have a few weeks off to convalesce during the feast of football, Iā€™m actually in quite a bit of discomfort with this problem. Itā€™s not a searing pain or anything but itā€™s there and itā€™s getting worse.

All the flying may not help.

think the world cup matches start at 5pm at earliest (others are at 8pm,9pm and 11pm)ā€¦I know a man like yourself who would have the perfect work/life balance is on the couch by this time anyway ā€¦

Lovely to see you acknowledge an alternative viewpoint.

The power of the mind eh? Amazing.

Lads, itā€™s good you asked, this shit is complicated. Hisenberg, I know nothing about you so Iā€™ll personalise it slightly for Bandage.
Hereā€™s the deal. You need to meet a women and get her to go on a date. It canā€™t be your ma or your sister. Any woman you work with probably knows you pretty well so they wonā€™t bite either. So itā€™s going to be a woman you donā€™t know yet. You need to approach her. You donā€™t want to scare her so donā€™t jump out at her or grab her from behind or anything like that. Try making eye contact first. But be careful, your normal face is a bit intense/scary/constipated looking. So smile at her as you make eye contact. Then approach. Now, your normal walk is more of a scuttle than a walk and on some level, ladies are judging your body language, so walk tall and purposefully. Think confident. Imagine you are a top, top semi-international financier. Ask her if sheā€™d like to go for coffee sometime, or possibly dinner. Again, keep your cool and smile. She might take her time to answer. Donā€™t get nervous and offer to show her your website, sheā€™ll only end up getting banged by Thraw. Maybe slip in that you work nearby in (mention some big name firm) and have noticed her once or twice. This will enable her greed to imagine you as something youā€™re not. Which is good for you. Sheā€™s on the edge now. Now casually flick open your jacket to display the personalised silk shirt you have. Not too fast as she might think youā€™re pulling something out to rape her or something, but enough for her to notice it and she will. This will seal the deal.
When she says ā€˜yesā€™, be casual, take her number and tell her youā€™re looking forward to it. Then withdraw. Graceful, manly.
When you get that far, come back and weā€™ll talk you through the next bits. Good luck.

I do so all the time. You are just blinded by rage over me calling certain things as I see it, like irish Celtic fans having a big number of them being bandwagoning event junkies. It would be ā€œlovelyā€ Iā€™d you showed the maturity and security to realise it doesnā€™t automatically mean I include you or Iā€™m saying ā€œallā€ of them are.

My physio is recommending that I take a series of pilates classes to help improve my hip flexibility and strength. Anybody any thoughts on pilates? I thought it was for ladies and funboys.

It is Bandage. It wouldnā€™t suit a lad like yourself at all. Suffer on and look on in contempt at the fun boys.

I will be taking up classes in the near future for the same purpose, palā€¦ Swimming will also be added to the list and maybe some aqua running. Pilates will give you a foundation to return to fitness and make your dream come back.

As I suspected. But could anyone else verify this? The above witness is unreliable (likes exercising with his girlfriend, adores Game of Thrones etc etc).

I donā€™t think Iā€™ll ever make a comeback, pal. But Iā€™m being very diligent with my rehab as I donā€™t want to have to undergo hip surgery every 10 years from now on. Iā€™ll consider the classes now given you intend to take some. I wonder what @Bisto reckons.

@TreatyStones howā€™s the hamstring coming along? Galavanting around Galway for the weekend did it no favours Iā€™d say.

You are correct, it did it no favours at all. A bit of clowning around on Friday night resulted in me instinctively attempting to kick one of the lads. Was sore Saturday and Sunday, but is fairly ok again this morning. I was hoping to be back light jogging by tonight but Iā€™d say Iā€™ll have to delay it.

Mate, men who were told they would never walk again, walked. Guys who have lost limbs have accomplished all kinds of physical featsā€¦ Believe!!

Give it a miss, bro. You donā€™t want to rush back and end up making things worse like yours truly did a few months ago. Maybe go for a bit of a long walk and see how you feel.

I donā€™t currently have a girlfriend mate, the ex probably didnā€™t exercise enough enough. Anyway just take my word for it that youā€™d be better off with the surgery than ending up with that lot.

What did you rush back from? Lunch?
