Lad on my team called in sick today after being hit in the eye with a vice grip
No one in GAA gets out unharmed, you make your peace with it and you get very very bitter
There was a surgeon/specialist who went OTT carrying out hip operations on young GAA players there a few years back, you donāt hear so much about them anymore.
Conor McManus was having bother with his for a few years, there is a Flynn fella in Westmeath (in Kevās speciality actually) that has pushed back the need for the op til after heās finished
Not sure as to yet. Iāve had awful issues after playing on it and I know there is a lot of people complaining afterwards also
More fellas are coming out with more teeth these days at least
They are going in with more too.
That man is crazy, seems to get results though.
His cousin used to play ball for Wexford.
Kev or the Flynn lad? A relation of āthe pantherā??
Flynn lad, nail on the head re the panther.
Kev is also insane.
Must be an advantage in that field.
Flynn from Mullingar was travelling down to play ball with the panthers club 2 years agoā¦
Nut job.
Not that simple either. Training has changed massively
Iām pretty sure there was a bit of a backlash where someone claimed the surgeries were unnecessary
Aye I recall that. But the load that was being put on players isnāt what it was and lads are training smarter now as well.
Hip operations in your 20s, youād want your head and hips examined.
The amount of training these lads are asked to do is ridiculous as well. Especially as a lot of it is on harder pitches than a winter sport would face.
Im seeing it at schools level in rugby. They all have 4g/5g pitches and do all training and matches on these (while normal pitch lies idle). We have seen a huge number of ACLs in past few years. I canāt help but think hip issues will hit some of these lads aswell.
I just got deep heat in my eye.
