SF know there isn’t a slight hope that this no confidence motion will go through.
All they’re doing is trying to out the Independents who back the Govt so they can use it against them in the next General Election.
Which independent seats would they have their eye on? Would they get away with simply not turning up to vote?
All of them if they’re running second candidates in elections. They’ll hoover votes from FF but will need more than that to bring a lot of their second candidates over the line.
Not turning up for the vote is as bad as supporting Govt.
Sinn Fein would know a lot about not turning up to vote in fairness.

Some of these Indos are in trouble in an election I think.
Lots of tradition FF/FG voters keeping with the gene poolers given their local brand recognition and a thumb in the eye to FF/FG for their displeasure at certain issues. Along with that, there’s been currency in being an Indo in getting things locally.
Polls might not show it currently, but some fear factor over the Shinners may see some votes coming home.

100pc. Middle Ireland are going to shut up shop big time when they realise Sinn Fein are actually going to win. Even though they probably agree with most of their policies.
They’ll actually vote SF but keep it quiet just like a lot of Trump supporters first time round.
