Do they give off methane?
Thatâs the nub of it.
âBurning the worlds rubbish in Donegalâ is a unique take on reducing our carbon footprint in fairness
Reducing the national herd here so it can be replaced by cows in places like Brazil where they have no environmental standards will make the problem worse.
Realistic proposals like making irish farming the most eco friendly farming in the World would be much preferable and might actually happen.

The national herd is fed by animal feed from Brazil mate,
Every country has there part to play, we shouldnt let farmers get special dispensation to allow them not to play their part

They will have to play their part, theyâll have to make their farms much more eco friendly, by whatever means necessary.

At the moment our recycling is put on boats to fuck knows where, Philippines, Africa etc and just dumped there. Killing wildlife and people and destroying the environment.
Again Iâm suggesting possible solutions which will make things better. Make Ireland a World leader in recycling and employing people to boot. Thatâs something everyone can get on board with.
But the Green party only want to be seen to do the right thing, they are not interested in actually doing the right thing. Soundbites, rather than plans.
this whole conversation relates to a 30% cut in our carbon and putting in place a plan to do this.
that seems to me to be doing the right thing
The starting point is Ireland has to make X reduction. We do that as a state. Brazilian beef is completely unrelated unfortunately.
Change is inevitable, growth is optional. These backwoodsmen have little interest in co-existing with the climate emergency we are currently in
Do we not have natural gas resources off our coast?
think all three of those are realistic policies that wouldnât discomode too many people and would move the needle.
Iâd say the people of Donegal would put up some battle before accepting the county was to be a designated recycling hub for europe
The greens hate when practical solutions to their problems are but in front of them @Julio_Geordio has given a quick plan that will work. Turn the incinerators into CHP plants and heat the homes in donegal using the waste heat, add the power to the grid as renewables, increase the circular economy, reduce landfills in forgien lands, import money to ireland. But look stop the world amd starve is the solution from leafy SoCo dublin
Funny how the West Limerick poster did not put forward West Limerick as a potential hub for this. Would probably be more accessible as Donegal for a recycling hub
Its funny a similar purposal is being fought for years back there. Similarly in the city with the cement factory. Yet all upwind from augnish and moneypoint

The JP McManus recycling zone
burning rubbish will save the planet?
I think heâs being ironic?
