Bitching and moaning? We’ve a government that has engineered a housing crisis and outright won’t take their thumbs out of their holes to fix it. That’s the story. And the more they’re pilloried for it the better, it might spark response. We’ve a housing crisis over a decade and it’s going on so long people take it for granted at this stage. That should never be the case. FFG should be hammered for it all day every until they address it or get off the stage.

Are you taking the piss? The opposition was raising housing non stop. Harris and Martin shouted people down and bullied anyone who questioned their number of 40,000 units. They knew they were nowhere near that.
They now have alan browne in situ. He has never been a senior minister before… how do we think this one will go now? It’ll be a fucking shitshow despite all their bleating and you know it… completions this year will be below last year but thats ok because our new target is now 50000 units a year! It’s like something from The thick of it.
And still you think Gary fucking Gannon is the problem?

I agree that the whole housing situation is a shitshow but would argue it’s been one for longer than 10 years, it’s more like 25.

They want to set up a new agency so they can deflect blame for the housing problem onto that agency like they did with the HSE.

There wasn’t really any discussion on the 40k beyond people saying it wasn’t enough and Monopoly money suggestions of building more.

It would be nice if you could be truthful occasionally. The gov said 35-40 thousand all year and pushed it aggresively during the election despite having internal assessment that they were talking bollox. And yes, the opposition had to do an FOI to get it… weird that.

I believe they pushed it based on advice in April time from Deutsche Bank.

That’s not the point though, it wasn’t a figure widely questioned. Go back to the party conferences last year and 50k plus was the new buzzword.

I think it should also be pointed out that we build an awful lot of houses.

Seems utterly fucking stupid If they were acting in good faith and thought there were going to be all those sydden completions? Did they think santa was bringing the extra ten thousand homes?
