Ireland v Norway

Would Dyche love it? Heā€™d be a fabulous appointment if so. Heā€™s really underrated in the English game. Should be walking into a job at the likes of an Everton or Villa. Heā€™d be a manager whoā€™d garner universal support too here.

Thatā€™s Philip Quinnā€™s back page sorted for tomorrow

Agreed he is very conservative but you have lads on here and twitter calling for Duffy. I think Duffy has 5 minutes premier league played this season.

McCarthy is a good one. Ran out of Nicosia and Cardiff in his last 2 jobs.

Firstly, who cares what lads on twitter think? Second of all, Duffy is shit but he is good in two key areas we need to be better in; scoring goals from set pieces and defending them. Collins, for example, is a good bit better in most aspects of the game but not better enough that it makes any difference to our results.

Duffy cant be in the reckoning for France if he doesnā€™t play for the next 4 months.

Ah they are the only lads with any bit of experience he has. He has to keep them some way happy and involved. If he jettisoned them completely theyā€™d retire and itā€™d be another stick to beat him with. The young lads coming up behind are no great fucking shakes either. Any lad who shows any bit of potential seems to tail away completely in their club career and thatā€™s not Kennyā€™s fault. Look I accept he is very uninspiring at best and most of the positivity around him is based on false hope but some of the criticism he gets is too much too. Heā€™s what we have at this moment in time and we may stay behind him until a viable alternative comes along. Either a really proven international manager or another Irish fella from the LOI/grassroots scene.

Dyche is good mates with Richie Sadlier.

Heā€™s the man we need but Iā€™d wonder how committed heā€™d be if he got a good offer from an EPL Team. Could jump ship halfway through a campaign.

I wouldnā€™t let Neil Lennon near it.

Iā€™d say Duffer has his eyes on it.

Why are Ireland managers ALWAYS so divisive? Is it a hangover from Saipan?? Iā€™d say even jack would have had loads of critics if social media was around.
You donā€™t get the same kind of criticism around rugby or gaa managers I donā€™t think. Irish soccer managers always end up getting pure defensive and chippy making passive aggressive comments to Peter Collins or Tony o Donohue. Mick, Stan, Kerr, MON, trap, Kenny even Noel fucking king

In fairness we came within a penalty shootout of qualifying for an U21 Euros without basically a full 11 of players who were underage but unavailable because of senior commitments. I think this is the best group of young players weā€™ve had in the last 15 years.

Weā€™ve been doing well at underage tournaments the last few years. Thereā€™s definitely been an improvement in that respect. Weā€™re a long way from the dark days of the likes of Reece Grego-Cox or whatever his name was.

Course he can.

Ah thereā€™s a bit of improvement but none doing well at club level. Even the likes of Collins and bazunu are struggling a bit now

I am slightly concerned that Gav Baz hasnā€™t even kept a clean sheet yet this season. Albeit playing in a struggling Southampton team.

I think the U19ā€™s were in a Euros semi back around 2019 without a host of players too. Quarter-finalists in an U17/18 Euros when the keeper Jimmy got done for coming off his line in a shootout against the Dutch. There should be talent filtering through there.

GAA managers get plenty of criticism. John Kiely lost a couple of games at the start of his tenure and was slated. Brian Cody lost a couple of games lately after dominating the sport for over a decade and was labelled as a dinosaur. Etc etc etc

Id blame Dunphy

Against Benzema, Nkonku and Mbabbe? No chance.

Maybe. I definitely think thereā€™s something about Ireland managers. Nearly always a 50 50 split even when they have really good results like Mick McCarthy

The problem is that these young lads simply arenā€™t playing at a high enough level.

Knight, Molumby, Parrott, etc etc players who there are high hopes forā€¦ how many of these are going to go any higher than Championship in their careers?

Thatā€™s the worrying thing.

Exactly, none of them have pushed on in last few years, add in Obafemi , Connolly and Idah too. Some exciting looking players coming through, likes of Ebosele, Ferguson and Moran at Brighton but they mightnt push on either
