Medical fraternity you say?

Was there nobody here could have expressed an opinion before you went shelling out that kind of brads. We have experts on many things here ranging from gout to ageing. Fire up a brief synopsis of the problem and weā€™ll see what we can all agree upon before incurring further costs.

Iā€™m waiting on a cardiology appointment with the HSE.

I got one of those ā€˜validate your place on the waiting listā€™ letters this morning. Grand, says you, but itā€™s the third one Iā€™ve received. Youā€™d think after the first one theyā€™d say, this fellow wants his appointment. They must be under serious pressure in there.

How long are you waiting for the appointment?

Itā€™s the 3rd one heā€™s received so Iā€™m guessing somewhere between 4-6 weeks. Right!

Can you not go private?

I know of someone lately waiting a year for an appointment, got the scan, bad news and the time lost in the meantime may/will ultimately kill him

Iā€™d say three or four years at this stage.
No details on the letter, other than the cardiology department, but I THINK itā€™s for a scan of the valves in the neck. Nothing too serious, says you, but that can lead to stroke.

I had a google there. Iā€™m a bit nauseous after itā€¦

Thatā€™s possibly a little bit harsh. He might have been sick or off that day. Surely there should be more consultants, working less hours, with responsibility for less patients and they should work a 24/7 rota. Probably a simplistic solution.

200k seems very little

Was thinking that when you consider some of the awards for personal injury claims.

Killing somebody is less damages.

No long term care required

My old English teacher from school died after a botched bypass operation in the Blackrock Clinic.

Family got around 250k. Strange things came into consideration such as his now non existent pension,

ā€œNew procedures have been put in placeā€ what were the old ones? First one to the operating theatre with a knife gets a go?
