Irish politicians

She’s not a career politician at all. She’s a barrister. Shes done huge work for womens rights for 30 years. Your misogyny in picking out a couple of women over the numerous lazy bastard dynasty lads in FFG who sit on their holes for ever is galling and duly noted.

Are there any male equivalents of Power and Bacik? Lads who have been failing to get elected for decades in General and European elections and hanging around the Seanad like a bad smell?

You never answered me how many times Bacik has failed in elections? She’s a career politician, one of those Seanad rejects. Maybe she should run in local elections and build up her base rather than suckling off the Seanad.

Has he ran in many elections though bar the Presidential one.

I’m more talking about the type who consistently fail in General and European elections and use the Seanad as the sloppy seconds.

Aodhan?

TBF he has been elected previously and is currently a sitting TD.

I’m more talking about the ones who run for election in their 20s/early 30s - have five or six goes at general and European elections without ever being elected and suckle on the sloppy seconds of the Seanad.

I feel that these people really need to build their profile in local elections and build a rapport with their constituents but this is beneath them.

Lorraine Clifford Lee seems to be another one.

oddball fits the bill perfectly as he had campaigned vociferously for the abolition of the seanad and when he lost his seat he ran to the seanad to keep his political career alive

Yes but he has been successful in general elections on 2/3 occasions.

The Seanad basically serves as some sort of redundancy program for TDs who lose their seats but you have to admire the pig iron will of some of those chaps who come back election after election and are never successful.

Chambers was put front and centre to be a rising star of FF and the likelihood is that she will never get elected in Mayo again as long as Calleary is there. People like Power and Bacik have been groomed too by FF and Labour but simply can’t win an election and it’s likely to do with them viewing local politics as beneath them.

You’d love for him to be caught off camera showing his real self. It would end him. He’s a nasty piece of work.

Superbly articulated narrative. Seamus Heaney himself would have been impressed with the vitriolic evisceration of Harris there. It’s improved my humour immensely. A cunt of the highest order.

His tweet about the late late show bringing comfort all but secured his legacy with the demographic you referenced. He’d walk a presidential election

Wicklow elected a Brady lad from SF top of the poles by a mile the last time out and I’ve never heard mention of him since? A Whitmore SDs and a Matthews in the Greens same story. Simple Simon hasn’t much against him and his prick tock machine

Si showing his angry/disappointed face

Michael McDowell.

McDowell was an elected TD though on 3/4 occasions.

Bacik and Power have had numerous runs at general and local elections and never got in.
