We donāt need a formation mate
As you said yesterday mate, thereās a fair chance the players donāt have a clue whatās going on
Ireland will line out in a 1-10 formation tonight. One goalkeeper and 10 outfield players.
You implied it was too difficult for our players to learn. I said itās under 9 level stuff.
I didnāt say anything about man marking at Under 9s. I was talking about defending differently in different areas of the pitch. Canāt say I know of it going on at that level, though I have seen it at Under 8 level.
I have my differences and disagreements with MON but please for once donāt pretend to be the oracle on everything. OāNeill worked his way in his management caterer from part time stuff in the bottom tiers of semi professional English football to his current position. He was successful almost everywhere. Sunderland is the obvious exception. He had his issues with the fans at Villa but they proved themselves since to be idiots. They had ridiculous delusions of grandeur and have fallen spectacularly since he left.
Iām all for criticising OāNeill for specifics but heās not in the job because of his reputation as a player. It would be helpful, and borderline mature, for you to admit that. Sadly I donāt think that will be the case.
OāNeill isnāt one for an enormous amount of tactical preparation or technical coaching but thatās why he has the management team he has. Walford has been with him for years as the coach along with Robertson, now replaced by Guppy. I hope youāre not advocating for an autocratic manager who canāt delegate technical coaching or tactical research.
Itās Hamilton and Beglin tonight. Thought Beglin had a poor enough game in Cardiff but heās a class act and will bounce back hopefully.
Are we only getting 20 minutes of build up on RTE tonight due to those jokers in the Aviva?
8 hours of build up on Danish TV. Thatās ridiculous if we only have 20.
Now that Ronnie Whelan isnāt in the gantry tonight Iām a tiny bit more optimistic.
Beglin and George are an institution
George Hamilton is one of the biggest cunts on the face of the planet.
Hamilton was shocking in Cardiff, never found him as irritating as that night.
Kept on harping on that Wales needed two goals to get through, barely mentioning that if we conceded an equaliser we were out.
If George wasnāt shafted in 1990 weād have won the World Cup
He is technically very good and when up for it is a match winner. has a habit with spurs to drift out of games but in this game he is easily the best player and needs to be marshalled by someone with legs and aggression for.the whole 90 minutes. give him nothing easy because with space he will do damage
Ah heās a good player alright. And needs attention. Heās not unmarkable though.
Its all well and good having lads with ya but are they yes men?
Does he listen to them?
Are they analysing the game fully?
Lads on handy numbers not going to rock the boat.
Group think???
I personally do not believe so. Either that or they all ignore the strengths and weaknesses of the squad. The talk from ex players would indicate this does not really happen.
I realise where MON came from, and as i say in a different time it was suitable. Yes he is successful to a point. I just happen to think we could do better.
He is aying the same way largely since day dot. Yet has im.easurably different players.
As i say, he has his strengths. I just do not think enough.
I have given the specifics
Eriksen is immense for Sours, very rarely drifts out of games and his workrate is extraordinary for a supposed luxury player, he doesnāt have a similar calibre of teammate at international level but weād do well to keep tabs on him, Iāve no doubt that theyāll have a plan.
He is outstanding.
The not tating him as one of the best around seems a bit mad.
But then its the typical anti EPL angle
Iāve a feeling that Super Glenn is going to have a big night tonight
Do you watch a lot of EPL?
there are days with spurs when he is barely in the game. other days he is fantastic. I hope he gets a roy keane esque mark overmars clatter early onā¦
