As I have said before, he would have been as well off doing another 18 months with the under 21s and building a serious rapport with them and left the current squad just come to the end of its natural cycle as a lot of them are late 20s and early 30s and the likes of Molumby, Parrott, Knight, Idah etc would also be a bit further down the line and ready step up along with himself getting another 18 months of dealing with media, FAI etc. Would have given him a great run in to the job and a better chance to succeed in my opinion especially if he had the 21s doing well at the under 21 European championships.
It’s not like the FAI are likely to get cold feet and get a bigger name in as they don’t have the money to do so.

You are right but given the circumstances of his hiring we’d have had to simultaneously announce 3 managers, with Roy Keane the probable second manager
