Lads judging a place and they haven’t even stepped foot in it. Its like those who say sure why visit a place when I can see pictures of it on the Internet. Mind boggles. No doubt Dubai is a shady place, mind you, but still.

Do they still defecate under palm trees in the hotel lobby, because it’s supposed to be lucky to sh1t under a tree or something?

They’re all dirty Arabs*

  • You drew that one out of me…

Whenever I see one of those boat parties on Instagram in Dubai, full of those wanker teachers fake laughing and posing, all I can think is that there’s nowhere else on earth I’d rather avoid.

Soulless. Entirely devoid of character and local characters. Like going to a shopping centre for your holidays

Secretly they’re all miserable. It’s one of the biggest kips on the planet.

I’ve seen a few people pull stumps after a year there or even less but I cant get my head around those that go back there year in year out for their 20’s.

They must see something in the place.

Any different to the type who spends their holidays in Irish bars or eating steak and chips and omelettes

It’s a huge black mark against someone. Anybody that drinks that soup can have very little complaints.

Much different i found.

Have you been?

No, I’m too old and too poor

It is certainly a very expensive destination.

A return would hold zero appeal for me

It gas you see the stories of teachers returning and complaining that their experience isnt recognised and they expect to be on a high pay band in the department of education. You left the job here and go abck to the bottom, they got well paid out in the desert while your colleagues worked hard here for less money. They deserve to move up not johnny fuck off on a jolly

What about teachers who couldn’t get a job in Ireland and had to emigrate? Their experience should be taken into account.

We need good teachers. Thats the long and the short of it. I think foreign experience should count alright. Even if the went with some fudge like every two years abroad counted for one here. People want to come home. The thought of a huge drop in wages stops that. And the process of getting recognised by the teaching council here for people who trained abroad should be made much easier. Call it a probationary year signed off by a principal or something. I know a lady who had about 6/7 years abroad teaching ptimary and couldnt get it recognised. She ended up teaching substitution here while doing the hibernia course.
