Michael Ryan
the runt was right…but ye wouldn’t listen
Can you not just hold me and tell me everything is gonna be ok?
That’s the problem. Ryan looks like he is being prepared for the position by giving him the best minor panel in years. The issues with panel members being dropped would only endear him further to the county board.
I’d prefer to see Allen stay on. Progress being made even after the disappointment of yesterday. Needs to get Dowling fit enough to start if only for the frees and also use Downes in the full forward line.

That’s what I’m afraid of. They’ll appoint Ryan, or O’Connor, or bring back Justin McCarthy or Pad Joe Whelehan or Tom Ryan or some other such act of fuckwittery and just when we’ve got a decent crop of hurlers and are getting back on our feet we’ll fuck it all away again.
The original plan of having Carey as a selector with a view to developing experience to take over was a good one, pity it fell through. They should do everything they can to get Allen for another year and try to get someone like Damien Quigley or Ollie Moran as a selector, and at least maybe develop some options for managers. Looking at the club managers and recent 21s managements you wouldn’t see a lot of candidates for the county job.

Would like to see Quigley involved, seems to be well connected at county board level too which might help. Ollie wouldn’t be acceptable I’d say especially if Niall is still involved.
Kilmallock are happy to release Tony Considine from the biggest job in Limerick hurling to take the County team if a vacancy appears.
Either would be the perfect candidate I reckon. Smart, stone nuts on hurling, still playing so know the club scene well. I’d say you can forget about Niall after this year, dedicated guy and great hurler on his day but has he much to offer any more?
Would he be interested? Doubtful. Donal Og Cusack might be tempted.
Ye can keep him.
Id love to see Eamonn Cregan come in as a selector. There are little bad habits some of the players have in play and he’d be the man to cut them out.
Daly is a match made in heaven right now for Limerick hurling,he has the tactics, the steel and drive to compete and win,it would be no journey for him and facing his native county would be nothing new to him.He is also a genuine nice guy of hurling unlike his former papa smurf team mate!
Daly is a great call
are you mad, he assaulted a person at a childrens sports day
he should be locked up
We’ll be keeping the title as well
limerick have the players in and around the squad to improve the team but i am not sure if that would be enough to win an all ireland. Mark carmody has the potential to improve the defence as has dempsey or king. assuming hickey is fit a move to wing back might be wise with obrien going to midfield. Barry o
connell s development seems to have stalled but he has the physique and athleticism and is a good hurler. if he has the head for it he would be a big improvement.
dowling needs to get fit. It is ridiculous at this point that a player of his ability is not able for 70 minutes senior hurling.
kevin odonnell and william hickeymight be a bit short of making it for different reasons but both have the type of athleticism that could improve limerick in the middle third. there is no point thinking about the minors for 3 years as the best of them are all underage again next season from what i can see the point being there should be enough for allen to work with to justify staying. it will be enormously mercenary if he doesn
t i feel

Agree with most of that TAN. Except on Allen, if he leaves it will be for personal reasons and having fulfilled his two year commitment it would not be bad form in any way for him to step down if that’s how he feels. On balance he’s been good for Limerick and I think he’s a definite alright sort.
I would be surprised to see Daly take the Limerick job. One thing being over Dublin, but potentially taking Limerick into Munster championship clashes against Clare would be a completely different story. A step too far for him I think.
Daly should stay with Dublin for as long as they want him if he has any sense.
