Shit really hitting the fan in here today. 4 clients are system down since 1am and no sign of it getting back up any time soon. Database locks, they are trying to reboot but some doubletake software they applied over the weekend as part of the migration of the box has stopped it dead in its tracks. They have now removed the doubletake stuff but they have to rebuild all the table indexes again which will take a good couple of hours, plus another hour to reboot the databases after that
Heads are going to roll!
Where was the roll back plan?

There’s a lot of questions to be answered here.
I think Chewy would be best getting on that plane to Dublin ASAP.

Having his head rooted firmly rooted up his bosses anus is making it difficult however

We are finally back up now that the 5 indexes are rebuilt. Now it is my turn to shine and get the system tidied up so Ops can start working again

My work here is done, outstanding damage limitation:clap:

I look forward to the root cause analysis.

Due to a combination of not realising that Monday was a bank holiday and having to unexpectedly take yesterday off I now have a mountain of work to get through today. Unfortunately motivation is at a minimum as I’m slightly hungover. I need a serious burst here to get things done.

You should buy yourself a little trolley to help moving those desktops and printers around.

Comments like that are not helpful.

I wish it was Diwali everyday.

Getting loads done here without the incessant interruptions every 5 fucking minutes.

We have an Indian chap who is overe here for a few weeks doing KT sessions and being training up on stuff. He bought in a heap of indian grub yesterday which the Chef at the hotel he was staying had made fresh that morning. It was outstanding:clap:

Nearly cleared the building with the farts coming out of me

So who is brushing shoulders with the nerds at the web summit today?

Up to my eyeballs here because a couple of guys have left at the one time. One of the fuckers handed in his notice because he didn’t want the responsibility of supporting the development environment while another developer was on 2 months leave. :frowning:

Not me :frowning:
Busiest time of the year here. Would love to get to it at some stage though.

Its the ploughing championship for nerds but I would love to go myself… maybe next year.

I’d love to pack in the job and come up with some sort of online business but all the best ideas are already gone.

6 minute abs

The best ideas might be gone but they can always be improved.

There is an app for everything, but a consumer needs choice. If you go into the shop to buy pampers you have a selection of 3 or 4 different brands.

There is plenty more room in the web app market.

All you need is to find a way to give people what they want before they realise they want it. Simples.

fuck sake lads…reading back over this thread ,some spoofers on here…my favourite is a live environment crashing with software that should have been tested in a virtual environment with uninstall tested too…farcical stuff…
