Project Management Certification.

Anybody got this? What’s the route to go?

PRINCE 2?

I’ve been reading conflicting reports.
Apparently PRINCE2 isn’t as highly regarded as some of the other qualifications (PMP being the other main one).
PRINCE2 certfication would seem to be less onerous to attain. PMP requires proof of previous PM experience and a level of CPD to maintain it.

I think a PM certification of some level would be a good addition to the CV.

I have PRINCE 2. Load of waffle but fairly straightforward.

Most of my IT colleagues failed it though. Apparently, they wouldn’t be as concerned with project management as much as us. According to their boss.

Did you do a course?
Did it take long?

 Turning to the dark side?

What do you mean?

PRINCE 2 was originally used for the British civil service…Its basically learning how to break a project down from a few basic steps to a million ridiculously basic/unnecessary steps…

I just want something that looks good on a CV that won’t take a lot of time or effort.

Even within the laughable realm of IT in general, PMs are the most utterly useless profession therein.
Are you handing in your nerd gun and badge?

I have it and I couldn’t run a bath never mind a project…in recent years I think it has been handed out like snuff at a wake …

I do a lot of that stuff already as part of my role so thought it might be no harm to have a qualification to accompany it.

Depends on the work environment. PM is a world of pain if you have global teams. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

However if I am not mistaken Runt works in the indigenous sector? So would avoid all that shit?

Ah yes, the qualifications shenanigans. A pay rise being the ultimate goal I assume.
Carry on…

I work in a hands on management role in the indigenous sector. Along with the experience I would like to add more management type certifications to my CV, as I would see myself moving more away from actually doing stuff into just talking about doing stuff.

Believe me the ‘talking about doing stuff’ is no fun in some industries but if your planing to stay indigenous then fire ahead.

It’s a while ago so I forget. I can remember a CD Rom and a book/handout maybe.

I looked over some material the night before the exam. Exam itself was handy - maybe even half hour and could have been multiple choice.

I’m very sketchy on the details but there was certainly no ‘course’ and it was very handy.

I have a 4 hour tele-conference at 2pm and I am only after realising that some cunt is after robbing my headset meaning I am going to have to take part in the meeting using the handset.

I am fucking seething here:mad:

Could you not rob someone elses?

Do the normal IT professional thing and rob someone else’s or find the person that looks after that shit and ask them for a new headset.
