January Transfer Window 2011

Eh the drinking trip to Dublin? He has been frozen since and has only played when others are injured ever since that. Harry has not forgotten that.

I agree heā€™s fallen down the pecking order since then but thatā€™s a separate point. I donā€™t think thereā€™s any evidence to suggest that incident caused general dressing room disharmony and negatively affected the overall team performance or other individual playersā€™ form.

Well it depends whoā€™s story you believe, but thats what he was attempting to do in Harryā€™s eyes. He lied to the manager about the trip when he was captain, thats ludicrous carry on and is bound to affect the team.

Anyway, me and a few of ye RK lovers will always disagree about him. He did well and had talent, but i believe he left alot of it behind and underachieved. I maintain, albeit without any great ā€œsourcesā€ that his moving around so much and ā€œi always supported themā€ attitude showed him as a disloyal type from a footballing perspective.

I think he achieved as much as he could have really. He has serious flaws as a player and they are why he never really settled at any club. Heā€™s looks a bit better than he actually is. That said heā€™s still the best ever Irish striker which is a fair boast.
Iā€™d agree with Bandage that Iā€™ve never heard any real stories about him causing dressing room disharmony and the like, in fact most of what you hear is the opposite from Harry and the likes. Just like he seems a better player than he actually turns out to be, he also seems a bigger cunt than he actually is. He seems to have got involved in fuck all scandal on or off the pitch.

In saying that these quotes below from former Celtic coach Peter Grant, whoā€™s now with Birmingham are not wholly positive.

Iā€™M NOT COMPLETELY POSITIVE SAYS GRANT
Birmingham first team coach Peter Grant admits there ā€œare a lot of bridges to be crossedā€ before any possible deal for Tottenham striker Robbie Keane is completed.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has confirmed that a bid of around Ā£7 million has been lodged by City for the Republic of Ireland international.

Grant has first-hand knowledge of working with Keane last season when first team coach at Celtic during his loan spell away from White Hart Lane.

But he insists speculation that a deal is imminent for Keane is wide of the mark.

Grant said: "It is a million miles short of what was supposedly breaking last night.

"There is no such thing as a medical having been put in place.

"Alex has inquired about Robbie many times, even when I came here in the summer. When you see top quality players not in the side and you want to add quality to your own squad, Robbie definitely comes into that category.

"Alex has inquired about him, that is open knowledge, as he has done so about a lot of players.

ā€œThe quality of the player does not come into question but I think there are a lot of bridges to be crossed yet.ā€

Grant also admitted Blues manager Alex McLeish also had to take into account Keaneā€™s personal circumstances.

He said: "The manager would love a talent like Robbie Keane to come to Birmingham but there are a lot of clubs looking at him.

"Then the player, where does he live? I know what he was like in Glasgow when he liked to be back in London with his family.

"You have to manage all that and I think Alex has built here is a squad here who are very close knit.

"Our gaffer has got to think about his squad, how that would react to his squad. There are a lot of things that come into play.

ā€œBut the quality of the player does not come into question.ā€

Dunno Gola not doing the chap down but in my time I thought Stapleton was a better centre forward and I could never see Keane doing the job that Charlton made Aldridge do for the team

Probably between Stapleton, who played for slightly better teams and won more at club level, and himself but Iā€™d just about give it to Keane purely on goals scored. His big game goals record for Ireland is as good as any other international striker in fairness to him.

Bent will keep the Villa up. Sure we have overpaid but his record suggests he will continue to bang them in regularly particularly with two good crossers either side. He needs to play up front with someone Heskey will do for the moment I suppose. In Walker on loan, Makoun and Bent. - Houllier has made 3 signings that will hugely improve the team. Iā€™ve been a huge critic but itā€™s a good start anyway.

Must say I thought the money pot had run dry too but it would be Leeds esque if we went down. We will stay up now, attendances will improve etc. Delighted that money wasnā€™t given to MON to spunk on Keane and McG.

Swap deal Given for Friedel being mooted. Looks like a left back and Adam will come in too. Iā€™m not gone on Adam. Dont think he has the athleticism to play centrally in a 442. Also a potential one season Bullard wonder. Larsson for
Bham would only make sense if we let a wideman go.

Sad to see Petrov at this stage of his career. Legs totally gone. Ferguson was superb again at the wkend. Pity MON didnā€™t buy him instead of Sidwell, Petrov, Reo Coker, Ireland - over 30m spent there.

Keane would want to cop the fuck on and take what is given to him at the moment. He has been dogshit at club level since he went to Liverpool. Get the feeling though he is happy with his money made at the moment.

Bent is a crazy price but his goalscoring record is excellent in fairness to him.

Keane will surely go somewhere anyway. He seems far from happy with his non-playing role at Spurs and heā€™s hardly happy with his money made if heā€™s asking for more to leave. You never know what wage demands are anyway, particularly when thereā€™s no contract signed so itā€™s impossible to know whether the rumoured increase was really asked for but the impression from Birmingham was that the length of contract was as much of an issue. This is his last decent contract so I imagine he wants at least 3 years at this guaranteed payscale.

Youā€™d be great in contract negotiations KIB. Cop himself on and take what heā€™s givenā€¦ I think his agent might be playing a slightly more sophisticated game than that.

The talk was that Keane priced himself out of Brum in the hope of getting a move to WHUFC if and when MON took over. That seems fucked now.

Rumours doing the rounds of Dunne to Arsenal.

Get to fuckā€¦

Was on Morning Ireland at 840

Aye they took it from The Mail, giving credence to it. Even when in form Dunne wasnt within an asses roar of Arsenal, would show some desperation from Wenger at this stage.

Iā€™m not bad at the contract negotiations to be honest. Then again Iā€™m at the top of my game so itā€™s a bit different ā€¦ Ha . Keane and his agent need to realise that his star is on the wane big time. Is it 2 seasons since his move to Liverpool? Thatā€™s a long time rotting at club level. As teams move away from 442 demand for him will drop even further. Guess he is hoping that a team will get desperate towards the back end of the window and a bit of a bidding war might develop. Birmingham would have suited him imo and he could always have a few clauses inserted to allow for a drop in wages. What does he care about money at this stage of his career anyway - looks like he is using Claudines teeth whitening and fake tan kit of late so you never know with him.

On the one hand youā€™re saying he doesnā€™t need the extra money and on the other hand youā€™re saying heā€™s just developed an expensive taste for beauty productsā€¦ make up your mind.

He needs regular football if itā€™s 10k a week less he shouldnā€™t care.

I think his barbie doll might though.

Babbel and cash for Suarez looks to be the deal.

Pienaar confrms hes off to Spurs

Babel to Hoffenheim is the wordā€¦

Eh, I think youā€™ll find that the bird is the word.

Oooo mao maoā€¦

Bent to AVFC confirmed, 18M.
