Onwards and upwards mate. The sky is literally the limit.
Hopefully no fines this year for delaney songs and banners
agreed, Avenue, Tulla, Newmarket and community ones like Liscannor and Lees Road have fine facilities now. Bridge Celtic will shortly enough. I believe the last time I played Pats they had a fine pitch behind the grave yard and were buildind dressing rooms and a club house
The FAI need to bring in a world class international sporting administrator with vast experience of successfully sorting out troublemaker within their sport, sharp financial acumen, and a proven record of attracting blue-chip sponsors.
Thereâs one obvious candidate out there. Step forward Olly Croft. Irish football needs you.
Two men who I have nothing but unwavering respect for - Murty Joe and John Delaney:clap:
From this weeks Clare Champion
Long time Bridge Celtic FC official Joe Aherne is to be honoured by the FAI. The club celebrated its golden jubilee at a function in the Castle Oaks Hotel in Castleconnell on Saturday night where news of Aherneâs upcoming honour was announced.
The club was founded in 1963 and the weekend function was attended by a number of the clubâs first members.
Guests of honour were FAI general secretary, John Delaney and Clare District League chairman, Donie Garrihy.
Club chairman, TJ Burns was the MC for the evening.
Five members of the first team to represent the club in 1963 were in attendance; Pat Aherne, John Walsh, Tom Kiely, Haulie Fitzgerald and Joe Aherne.
Fitzgerald, the teamâs first goalkeeper returned from New York for the function, while Tom Kiely, the clubâs first captain, travelled from Dublin.
Fitzgerald was one of the clubâs founders along with John Ryan and Eddie Storan.
These five have been invited as VIPs by the FAI secretary John Delaney to an international game of their choice at the Aviva Stadium.
John Delaney had huge praise for the club and its officers over the past 50 years and the contribution the club has made to life in the area. He invited 50 members of the club to an international game of their choice at The Aviva to mark the clubâs golden jubilee.
The associationâs CEO also announced that lifelong member, Joe Aherne is to be given a national award at the FAIâs annual general meeting in Wicklow next July in recognition of his work with Bridge Celtic. He has been continuously involved with the club since day one and following a long playing career he turned to management. He has also held every position on the club executive.
Clare District League chairman, Donie Garrihy praised the club, its players and members for the contribution they have made to Clare Soccer for the past 50 years.
The club made a special presentation to Haulie Fitzgerald in recognition of his ongoing support for the club. Fitzgerald praised all who continue to work for the club and told the gathering that, although based in New York, he follows the fortunes of the club closely.
Joe Aherne spoke of the enjoyment he derives from his involvement.
âI have got huge pleasure out of being involved with this clubâ Joe told the Clare champion. During his playing career he filled every position on the pitch.
âWe have won every competition in Clare soccer except the cup. To win that title would be massive and if we could do it this year, it would be the ideal anniversary gift,â he said, anxiously looking forward to this Thursdayâs third round draw.
He acknowledged the contribution of two men over the years.
âJohn Howard was the club manager for 15 years, while Jack Cooney made a field available to the club, which helped greatly. These are just two of many who have helped keep the club alive and well.â
John Delaney is currently participating in a Sky sports documentary and this resulted in the presence of TV cameras at the weekend function. Earlier this week a portion of Delaneyâs address to the Clare clubâs function was featured on Sky.
Thereâll be plenty of spare tickets so that 50 can bring their 10 closest friends with them too.
Massive elephant in the room here is Bandages lauding of Delaney for developing womenâs football. Oh deary me the big man has lost it
Fran Rooney did more in 18 months than Delaney will do in 18 years.

When did Joe hang up his boots? He was still going well into his forties I think? Hard cunt too.
Joe would have played into the early 90s if not later. There is an expression used to describe Joe when he used to play, either the ball or the man would get past him - never both.
A poor mans Milo Corcoran.
What was the job that Mr Delaney was offered that paid three times the menial salary he is on now?
Chief executive of Liverpool Football Club, I believe.
Come back Brendan Menton
John Delaney is a fuckin eejit, but heâs our fuckin eejit

They never had much interest in gaelic football in east Clare and hurling wasnât invented until 1995, so it wouldnât have been much of an issue.
At least the soccer club provided them with something else to do other than beating up Jehovahâs Witnesses

Dela is the man now, one step closer to beer in brazil 2014. His masterful handling of Denis OâBrien has made all this possible.
Proud to know him
