John Delaney/ tugging off half the forum

They have the same league prize money yet Belarusian clubs do better in Europe.

100k goes a lot further in Belarus as youā€™ve helpfully pointed out

Does it? Football is a global game. Look at the amount of nationalities represented in the LOI.

Youā€™re not doing a good job of constructing a valid point here.

Sport Ireland should be disbanded.

you make it sound like he bate down fifaā€™s door demanding money.

A ref made a mistake and he threatened Fifa with legal action.

Fifa paid him off with 5 million because heā€™s a God help us.

How much more could we have gotten if he persisted with the court case?

BATE are the club of a massive agricultural company. You canā€™t compare them to community based clubs in Ireland. The rest of Belarussian football canā€™t be doing too well if BATE have won 13 leagues in a row

Maybe if Delaney put the Irish domestic leagueā€™s interests ahead of his own then they might do better than their Belarusian counterparts.

Dundalk are a club owned by a wealthy American investment firmā€¦

Juventus have 8 or 9 leagues in a row in Serie A, ergo the remaining clubs must be shite

BATEā€™s wage bill is Ā£200k per week. Doubt the Americans will be pumping that sort of money in

Juventus are one of the best teams in Europe and have Italian refs in their pockets

No he went in and negotiated it, leveraging the limited options available to him.

It was a very good piece of business.

Who knows wtf court action would have got. What are the precedents?

Why people canā€™t accept that is beyond me.

Everything looks so simple to some people.

They are

 You know the details of a conversation between Sepp Blatter and John Delaney do you? Were there minutes taken? Or are you just taking Johnā€™s word for it?

Itā€™s grandstanding, there is a process to go through.

BATE are CL and Europa League regulars. Thatā€™s a wage bill of ā‚¬10m a year easily covered by European football alone.

Clearly a very well run club. They needed the investment in the first place to get to where they are though

Dundalk wage bill was ā‚¬4.5m a few seasons back.

Iā€™m taking the word of the FAIā€™s statement at the time of the ā€œrevelationā€.

I only introduce facts to this discussion and other than that, my opinion is quite clearly stated.

I understand facts and this kind of thing arenā€™t friends for some of you.
