âPolitical correctnessâ may not be an alt-right term in origin (I think the term dates back to about 1990) but it is something which is used pretty much exclusively to make conservative political points and it has latterly very much become associated with the alt-right and as a term to motivate anger against the âleftâ or âliberalsâ. I really have no idea why it has become such a hobby horse for the right in general except to motivate a backlash against the idea that you should treat people as they would like to be treated, ie. to try and legitimise bullying behaviour.
âSocial justice warriorâ, like other alt-right terms like âvirtue signallingâ and âsnowflakeâ, are obviously nonsense terms and attempts to shut down debate, which is an irony that alt-righters arenât smart enough to get, given that they (erroneously) like to style themselves as the ones looking out for âfree speechâ.
The world is changing, itâs always been changing. Iâm pretty sure that if a lecturer in any college 20 years ago insisted on referring to a female student as âheâ or vice versa, they would have been reprimanded, and rightly so. Anybody has the right to think anything in private. If you insist on being an arsehole in public, people notice. For a lecturer to refuse to refuse to refer to a student via the pronoun they would like to be referred to as is basically bullying.
Anybody is entitled to their beliefs and should be. But your freedom to punch the air ends where my nose begins, as they say.
Youâre arguing with a nutter who has no concept of common sense. Peterson appeals to younger generation males who are stuck in low self esteem lives, addicted to Internet forums and porn. They can be salvaged, unlike those permanently scared from decades of abuse.
Human society has evolved for several thousand years. Some things work, some things donât. Denying traditional genders probably doesnât work. Biology trumps delusion
I donât agree with everything obviously especially around the church and think he is a little idealistic there and maybe somewhat nostalgic and doesnât see why half the world has the urns on the urn edge vhurch, Catholic especially.
Where I really tuned into him was on his self responsibility, always learning, we are not born with our complete ability althoufh we probably all do have genetic ceilings, his anti PC bullshit, his realistic and bio-psycho based views of the reality of women in the work place etc. The world is not black and white. I may agree with you here but not there. And so on
And his clear and no bullshit message in general based in incredible experience and good science
He has years if clinical psychology experience. He has written two books the first being scientifically a claimed if quite hard to read for lay person. 2nd one is more consumable.
He is a type of balancing act. âHold on, we are gone too crazy into protecting everyoneâs feelings. Lets pull it back a bit.â
Itâs only the crazy mental liberals who cannot read and listen to whatâs actually being said that rally against him.
Itâs very similar to the way when I throw something out here the usual suspects are up in arms very often without reading whatâs actually said.
I think k I am the Jordan peterson of amateur psychology
And you are a poisonous person who takes little bits out of various things to suit some narrative.
I think things need to be pointed out about Irish culture that we accept as ok that are actually very damaging;
Alcohol
Male inability to express
National insecurity about what others think of us
Employment snobbery
And many other things.
I also value alot of Irish traits but I think we need to grow up a bit and see the bigger picture. And in fairness many people do nowadays.
If you have not lived around the world and seen other better ways then you will not understand my perspective. Many do not and many do not agree or fully agree. But itâs only a small few get actually upset like you and chocco.
Youâre the one with the mentality that other people are always out to get you and prop that up as the reason you keep failing in life. You are completely absent in introspection and like to project onto others.
You need to lose the sense of entitlement that you have. Nobody owes you a great life and getting bitter about others successes in life certainly wonât help that.
Maps of meaning I have dipped in and out of. I am now on 12 rules for life
I have a friend who has been on about him for quite a whike, who is a clinical psychologist. And in have been picking up his podcasts and lectures since he started doing them
Do you realise how stupid you look when the only thing you can muster as a response is to call the person youâre responding to âinsaneâ?
Oh, and by the way, seeing as you now appear to placing such store on psychology qualifications, letâs see what youâve said about psychology before.
