Kilkenny GAA thread

Ballyhale man trying to get henry into a job. Quelle surprise.

I’d find that hard to believe, seems a bit OTT to just watch a few intermediate matches

Theres no doubt Sheflin is positioning himself alright. Like I said before, the off season is too short this year for any change. Next season could make or break Cody’s reign. What will be deemed acceptable to justify an extension? Certainly a limp exit like what happened against Waterford would stoke the flames

It’s the gaa. Home of the manufactured outrage. I doubt you are in any way surprised by someone washing their clean linen in public. I thought it a well balanced, fair, and actually brave piece. It didn’t say anything people weren’t muttering amongst themselves I’m sure, but to drag it into the open, such as these things go, took courage against the potential ire of a man like Cody.

Cody is the least of Kilkenny’s problems.

They should be tying him down for another 5 years if anything.

It happens though flatty. I know they’re football examples but look at Micko in Kerry Boylan in meath and even Hart in Tyrone. Everyone has a shelf life and at some stage they’ll be questioned and eventually moved on. Like or loathe Cody, noone can deny what hes achieved. Some die hards will even argue that they won what they won in spite of him rather than because of him. That’s a debate for another time but there’s more question Mark’s now than theres ever been since he took over. Those questions are entitled tube asked. For the moment he has the right of reply.

Kilkenny would be better off coaching the young lads how to puck the ball to eachother cc @Fagan_ODowd than trying to stab Cody in the back.

Just two proper hurling schools in the county coming home to roost now.

True, I wasn’t arguing otherwise, but it was a brave piece of journalism. As liamo himself might sing, the first bird to fly gets all the arrows.

It is indeed. They’re absolutely fucked sure.

That sounds a contradiction.

Kierans this and Kierans that. Kierans can only field 15 and everyone else lost.

They’d be better off trying to develop a bit of hurling in the school’s in Johnstown, Castlecomer and Ballyhale.

Maybe but there are other qualities to management as well. I don’t think anybody would have that Kilkenny team winning All Irelands and Cody is keeping them in the top 4 in the country as it is, which I think is an overachievement

I see what I just did.

Kilkenny are going through a “lull “ that has seen them a top 4 team over the past few years . That said we are I think looking at what is a poorish enough era standard wise .

Is there a feeling that there aren’t producing enough good hurlers ??

It’s the worst Kilkenny team in 30 years and Cody still got them to beat John Kielys all conquering side last year.

Oh I agree. But I think he is a master tactician.

There will always be hurlers in Kilkenny. Cody just had the likes of JJ, Tommy and Shefflin who are all time greats supported by a strong cast. Outside of TJ there is no one on the current panel within a 100 miles of those three and TJs supporting cast is no where near as strong either.

Tis only mullockers they’re producing these days.

John Kiely’s team were far from “all conquering “ in 2019 . They had lost twice In Munster championship before playing Kk
