He is…it makes Henry taking his side all the more tragic for Malarkey considering that he takes a little credit for moulding Shefflin in the first place.
I remember reading a book a long time back that featured Dan Kennedy the 1947 winning kk captain. He was captain because of that Thomastown win you reference in 46 but did he transfer to Bennettsbridge that summer or something?
I only ask because he came up in a quiz question before about clubs providing all Ireland winning captains and he was one of many from Bennettsbridge quoted.
Paul Phelan was unused sub in AIF. Hurled centre back in AI semi final.
Was Nailer injured for the semi?

DK, at the time, was a Bennettsbridge native hurling with Thomastown (Bennettsbridge were in the doldrums at the time at adult). DK also hurled with Dicksboro, if memory serves, but ultimately went back to his native place to hurl.
DK was a maternal uncle of Noel Skehan.

Spot on.

The only slightly tragic thing in my life is being followed around by e-creeps. But slugs serve a purpose. Nature is wonderful.

Malarkey is badly rattled here…
Graiguenamanagh have contributed very little to the Kilkenny county cause owe the years. The best hurler they ever produced ended up captaining Wexford to win two All Ireland’s. Arguable that after that most of the best hurlers from the town were on the Carlow side of the river in Tinnehinch.
I know little enough about Graiguenamanagh. Sort of tucked away from everything. Nice town, though, and Doyle’s is a great public house.
Graiguenamanagh would have produced a nice few underage hurlers for Kilkenny, 1950s to 1990s. Gone way down now, alas.

“badly rattled”
The opera of an empty vessel, more like.
Dan Kennedy won senior hurling championships with Thomastown (1946), Dicksboro (1950) and then a good few with Bennetsbridge from their breakthrough win in 1952 onwards. I believe he’s the only Kilkenny man to achieve that feat with three different clubs.

He’s seething in fact.
Is it correct that Paulstown is the only parish in Kilkenny never to have provided a player for a Kilkenny Senior All Ireland winning team?

No. Richie Doyle got at least one as a sub in 2010s. He was the first, though.

Clogh has Seán Meally. So I think every parish has at least one.

Think so. But needs to be checked. Paddy Grace won with Carrickshock and Dicksboro, if memory is not blunt, this time of night. Did PG also win with Éire Óg? Think he was also a season at least with James Stephens.
If you’re from Paulstown you play with who? Blacks and Whites or Galmoy? Or who?
Barrow Rangers
That’s the one. Blue and white kit. They had a minor in I think 91 but he didn’t make it. Lovely hurler.
