Kilkenny GAA thread

I’m close to certain that Graignamanagh havent either, Michael Morrissey was an unused sub in 1992/3 Nick O Donnell didn’t hurl senior championship for Kilkenny as far as I know.

As Malarkey said above they’ve been down a while, Fran Doyle RIP was class and

Dermot Maher.

Think Nick O’Donnell might have got a medal as a sub in 1947.

Would have made it senior surely, they have a few coming now though,Ted Dunne will be a mainstay of the 2022 minor team, Sean Hamilton might make it in 22 as well and is underage in 23, they’re best in decades really. green shoots and all that.

Galmoy hardly touches Paulstown Parish?

Dermot Maher. As good a stickman as anyone. Alas, just did not happen.

Surely unused subs medals don’t count as All Ireland medals for the purposes of history? Did R Doyle hurl in an AIF?

The Diamond Hayden was a Graiguenamanagh native. Hurled with Éire Óg.

Mick Morrissey has a Celtic Cross as sub.

Nick O’Donnell did not get a sub’s medal in 1947, because he was injured for AIF.

My father was a Kilkenny man.

Look, you fuck off.

We were having a most pleasant conversation until you slithered in.

No.

Big story there – but cannot tell it in public.

Barrow Rangers is Paulstown and Goresbridge.

Blacks and Whites is Skeoughvosteen, rural bit of Graiguenamanagh.

I’d have thought all these things would be recorded as on the field of play only…sure there was 36 AI medals given out in some Years around 08/09.

Here’s an interesting stat…the last Mooncoin man to strike a ball in senior Inter county championship hurling was Tom Murphy when he came on in the closing minutes of the 93 AIF…no Mooncoin man since in any championship match.

Diamond Hayden (according to my father anyway) was from between Gowran and Goresbridge. Remember as a kid when we were over on holidays from England and we were on that stretch of road, he’d always point out his home place.

The Diamond was from up on the hill, near Scart (which is in Gowran Parish). But he was in first Graiguenamanagh townland. Used to know it… Not Coppenagh, which is Graigue’.

You could make an eejit of yourself in the mirror, grand enough.

Why bother here, two senses?

You’re giving him a schooling here🤣

Think Dermot Maher went to college in Wales which put pay to a senior inter-county career. He got an awful belt early in the U21 final in Thurles in 1995 which more or less scuppered Kilkenny.
