I accept your last point there alright. Quaid is given huge autonomy over puckouts and since that has happened he has absolutely flourished in that area. In that aspect of the game I think he’s absolutely phenomenal

There we have common ground. If EM was Limerick goalkeeper, people would be boggled at what he would be able to do. He is effectively hurling with one hand tied behind his back.

Eoin Murphy is the best we’ve seen since Brendan Cummins.

Quaid isn’t in the same league, he’s a good keeper like McGarry was but Murphy is different standard altogether.

By far the two best goalkeepers I have seen in their pomp are Damien Fitzhenry and Eoin Murphy.

That said, Brendan Cummins did make possibly the greatest save ever, when he stopped that piledriver from Paul Flynn. Maybe between him and PJ Ryan in 2009.

Glenmore 0-19 Thomastown 1-13

Thomastown looked a bit headless in the first half against the wind. Better in the second half but always playing catchup. Eoin Murphy MOTM at centre back. No luck for Henry here.

Thomastown would be perennial underachievers relative to their size? Is it a big soccer town?

Big enough as said above. They had two teams on the go at one stage 80s/90s. TT United and Jerpoint Forest. Forest was largely made up of the Donnellys, fathers of the current crop, who come from that side of the parish. Played for them myself, briefly.

That’s Dominic Roche. He’s probably wearing the rugby boots. Yea, don’t know what John is doing in Goal. Himself and Stapelton beside him were two class acts.

I think Murphy is class but goalkeeping is all about distribution & minding the house now, and Quaid is unparalleled, while also being an excellent shot stopper (although admittedly gets less of a chance to show that these days but his penalty save from Horgan this year was top class).
