11 All-Ireland’s. Ridiculous record.

As my great pal sighed in 2017, “I’d love to have bet kk in the final”

He was absolutely iconic.

The spitting on the hands, the waving of arms at officials and his own players, the Copa Mundial Boots, Glanbia Cap… The absolute contempt he showed for his own selectors and anyone who was interviewing him on TV.

He had it all.

A giant. The biggest giant. He was the opposite of box office and he despised everything to do with such a term but he was BOX OFFICE.

Hurling will feel his loss.

Someone may set up a tribute thread once the announcement is made.

I’ve really enjoyed the slight mellowing of Cody in the last few years. He has spoken really well post match of late. Its an outside shot, but I’d love Cody to do a bit on analysis on TSG. Wouldn’t have to be every week, wouldn’t necessarily have to be a KK match, but it would fill the void left by Ger, Cyril, Tomas that a certain section of the audience want while at the same time being very current.

I think it might have been Tipp v Cork in the 2014 semi final and his face came up on the big screen,

The whole place started booing and jeering. The fucker started giggling away to himself as if to say ‘fuck ye too’.

The game needs characters, managers need to start letting the top lads do interviews during the season again.

Must be grating him not to go after a win.

How many Kilkenny teams did he build ?at least 4 different ones? Some going

Power needs to be taken back from these intercounty managers. To be fair to Cody he always had great respect for the clubs and club championships. A lot of counties and managers could have learned from him

From another forum - sent to a KK lad via text

Cody possibly to take up the roll of new , Talent development/ Director of hurling in Kilkenny( strong rumour)
There will be a sting in the tail though, he knows he is going to go. But he won’t go until Shefflin is firmly tied into Galway, paving the way for Derek to be next manager.
Although strongly rumoured that Quinn is going back into the chair as Jimmy Walsh tenure is up. Ned would be a supporter of Shefflin but also of Cody.

As always TFK was well ahead of the curve on this news. It was reported here more than 24 hours ago.

Someone stick up that iconic post match interview with Marty.
