Dont know really, but when about 20 years ago they’d get up to $500 dollars per game. Allowing for inflation and time in between, prob about $1k per game at the very upper end and maybe some token benefits under the table like the use of a car or rent of a house or something as well. Its not enough as a stand alone wage anyway
The ‘Lockes came second today vs Blacks and Whites. 0-17 to 1-11. Ah well, we go again (next year)
Parachute the 4 Powers into any junior team in the county and they would have a bit about them.
I’m sure the paperwork is in order and they managed to display an address in Windgap parish, but the whole thing doesn’t sit right with me.
Windgap also get a special dispensation to play underage championship despite being amalgamated with Galmoy, which no other amalgamated clubs in the county are allowed to do.
There is truth in that. But the Powers can go shit in their collective hats.
Yeah I heard the were a toxic influence within the club well before the day they went postal in that intermediate game and finally got fucked out.
They seem to be keeping the head down since the switch to Windgap but you would imagine they’ll boil over again at some stage.
They will you know. I’m sure they’ve learned and grown blah blah blah. Power himself never learned…
The Village beat the Boro in El Marblo. The Shamrocks hammered Clara. Lisdowney go down intermediate after being beaten by GBC.
The Village were blessed to beat Lisdowney in round 1 and now they are here. Tullaroan flying it apparently but impossible to see any one beating Ballyhale.
Shamrocks are just too good.
Up to Cody to stop the Shamrocks.
Ballyhale are going for 5 in a row which hasn’t been done before whilst they are also trying to match Tullaroan on the overall roll of honour.
Some motivation for both the Village and Tullaroan.
The Laois men driving the Village back to the summit
Tullaroan have a small pick but have been going well since going up senior. I wouldn’t discount them completely. They gave Ballyhale a good rattle in a semi-final last year.
Edit: I think that was OLG they lost to last year.
Village Boro game was a great match. Two good teams. Cian Kenny centre back is an odd one. Village workrate and better finishing probably the difference. Boro hit some terrible wides when they had the momentum in the second half.
Only saw second half of Ballyhale. Snoozefest. Ballyhale look huge and bullied Clara out of it. They were in third gear. I could see one of Tullaroan or the village giving them a good rattle and the other getting a hammering.
Those wides were a killer as was that missed goal chance when Harry Shine was through. I feel he should have tried his own shot.
I’d hoped Tullaroan might avoid them in the draw till a potential final, in a semi I think we’ll see a Tullaroan ‘put in up to them’ type of scenario play out.
Ballyhale will relish burying the Village in a final, I reckon they’ll really show their teeth at that stage.
They are decent TBF and have opened up a path for themselves now by taking out Ballyragget and T/R.
They’ll be there or there abouts, with the Boro getting knocked out of the Senior today I’d say its between Windgap/Dicksboro for Junior honours this year.
They’re drawn against each other in the semifinal, Piltown vs Blacks and Whites in the opposite semi.
Piltown better hurlers but B&W will try make it a tight low scoring affair and could dog them out of it. Piltown don’t always have the stomach for a battle.

Thanks, didn’t know the draw was already made up. In that case I’d say the outright winners will come from the Windgap/Boro semi.
Your comment on Piltown is a long held sentiment, don’t see any reason for change now.
Piltown have their house in order at underage level and big numbers which should eventually push them over the line to a junior championship.
They could potentially thrive at intermediate level where the exchanges are a bit more about the ball and bit less about the man.
