Kilkenny GAA thread

We’re gone flaky as fuck. When tipp woke up in the first half we wilted and when they cam again after the red card, we wilted again.
We’re basically fuckin waterford at this stage.

Once upon a time it was Kilkenny mugging other teams for goals like those

John Donnelly can only do all the work for the forward line for 15 minutes spells at a time

Stephen Donnelly was about to go on for Mullen until he hit that score.

A watery one to boot. Some of them need to go.

Been the case for a few years at underage. Kilkenny have lots of lads who are solid hurlers but they just don’t seem to be producing lads with that touch of magic. They hardly looked like scoring a goal today and that’s simply won’t do at this stage of a championship.

Question marks about eoin murphy today? If a galway goalie let in a few of those there would be anyway.

I don’t think it was a fitness thing with Mullen. I think him and Donnelly looked over trained. They didn’t look lean, they looked bulky, more suited to a strongman contest than intercounty hurling.

I’d have caught the second goal in my cap and he was caught in no man’s land for the third. No goalkeeper would have saved the first. The fourth was freakish. The defender blocked the ball onto OODs stick and it flew in a direction no one could anticipate

Definitely looked to be slow off the line for the third

Just not good enough. Lyng has to be questioned. As was said, Mullen was coming off but then scored and left on. Tbf he scored another two points but make the fuckin change.
Cody wasn’t right. No dynamism in the forward line, no speed. Hopefully they can unearth a couple of speedsters from the underage set up.
Disappointed here. With @Chicken_George and hard to hear the Tipp Tipp Tipp bantz. But fair play, best team won.
Fuck Tipp

Unwanted record breaking territory. Since the first All Ireland win in 1904, the longest drought between All Ireland wins was 10 years, 1922-32 and 1947-57. It’s out to 11 years now in 2026 since last All Ireland win in 2015.

The U20 in 2022 is the only All Ireland won across the three grades of minor, U20/21 and Senior since 2015. I’m beginning to wonder if I’ll see Kilkenny win a senior All Ireland again in my lifetime.

Something we’re all equally concerned about

In fairness were excellent the first 15 /20 minutes. Tipp were chasing shadows. But we always seem to concede a raft of scores together and can’t regain momentum.
Good but just a little short. Can’t say you’re unlucky all the time I guess. Keoghan is in hoty form.
Mullen can’t seem to produce in the big games, butler is a great marker but his hurling is below this level. Molloy a big success story.

We could have had 3 extra men but if you can’t use the ball it makes no difference. Our distribution is terrible across many different players.

I think yer giving the Tipperary fb no credit for a pretty impressive performance.

Who is in HOTY form?

Mossy Keoghan. Flying it all season to be fair to him. He used to be just a magnet for scoring a goal but he’s added more consistency to his game this season. @Galaxy spot on about Jordan Molloy too. He outshone his previously more esteemed midfield partner Cian Kenny today. Molloy was very good.

Molloy goes well when Kilkenny are on top, Kenny is the type of player any team would love to have he just works his bollox off and chips in with 2-3 scores everyday, one of the best midfielders in the game, he was driving KK on until he went off injured which was a huge loss.

Ah yeah Kenny is class. It would’ve been a James Stephens combination in midfield the last couple of years if Conor Browne was around. I don’t think the Kilkenny intermediate championship is as strong as it was about 5 years ago so I can’t see them getting stuck down there.
