Kilkenny Gaelic Football 2010 Thread

Iā€™m more interested in where he thinks I said I won but I couldnā€™t really be bothered.

Nice to see some mention of winning on the Kilkenny gaelic football thread.

Up Limerick

There was only 9.3 kicks of a ball in it

I know what youā€™re saying Fran, but the treatment of the local Club Championships is what ahas alway bugged me. Even if a lad did want to kick some football in the Summer he canā€™t do it. Seems nuts to me to deprive them of that even. How can they proress if theyā€™ve never even given a chance? There must be something to be done.

The All-Ireland U21 football championship is played this time of year. The semis in April and the Final in May. If itā€™s good enough for them?

Its the end of March now and thereā€™s not a provincial U21 Final played yet. The U21 is played early in the year, for to play it any other time just isnā€™t feasible under the current Championship structure. Kilkenny play their football in February and March so as not to interput their hurling. Its not right and I doubt you even believe your own argument there.

We play handball,so fuck off. :guns:

Bring back Footballer

Fair good at fiddling with your own balls alright Iā€™d say. Cunting hurling snob.

To play football at the same time as hurling in Kilkenny is not feasible as there are just not enough (any) footballers in the county. You could run it at the same time but all youā€™ll get is postponed & cancelled matches due to lack of numbers. Nobody wants to risk injury playing a 2nd rate game.

Why are people so obsessed with forcing Kilkenny to play football?

Because thereā€™s lads in KK that want to play football and arenā€™t being given any chance or opportunity. Its just sadeening to see. Other countyā€™s can facilitate both, yet KK just railroad one for the other.

This situation wont be changing in my lifetime, theres no appetite whatsoever for Gaelic Football in Kilkenny at present, its at its lowest ebb in decades id reckon and thats saying something, the only thing is that the general GAA population are happy eneogh with this situation so it will remain as such, there are 5 divisions of hurling and several other tournaments in this County with 37 clubs competing in those, more than eneogh competitions to ensure that everyone who is interested in playing hurling gets a game,if you want to play football take it up with your local soccer club,we dont do Gaelic football here in Kilkenny.

Here, why dont you just fuck right off, Iā€™m having a conversation with a literate Kilkenny man about the subject. If I want shite talk and mention of bogball, Iā€™ll give you a shout. Uber cunting hurling snob, Iā€™ve met your kind plenty of times before.

Where did i mention bogball??,the literate Kilkenny man is making the same point as myself,we are a small County without the resources, the playing numbers or the manpower to run championships in two codes at the same time,Football being the minority sport is alway going to be moved to an off peak slot,it used to be run off when the hurling ended, its now ran off before it starts as clubs found it easier to get players to tog out for it at the start of the Year, many clubs conentrate thier first Months training around fitness training and a couple of football matches, theres nothing wrong with that.

As Fran has said above, whats the big fascination with GAA people in other COunties insisting we concentrate on Gaelic Football?,its prevelant in eneogh COunties as it is,Croke Park wont touch this arguement as things stand with handball being completely neglected so yer going to be flogging a dead horse for another while yet.

I think we all know the answer to this. And no amount of whinging about ā€˜promoting all games of the GAA equallyā€™ will deflect from the real reason people are obsessed with it.

Was at the game on Saturday, the Kilkenny lads were enjoying fag breaks throughout the game, says it all really

 Old school football. I bet our lads didnā€™t use the handpass anywhere near as much as the opposition either.
We prefer a more classic brand of football, where the foot is actually used to propel the ball more than the hand or closed fist
Our nostalgic approach is a non runner in this modern shambles of handpassing and rolling mauls up and down the pitch

There are a lot more counties out there that are worse at hurling than Kilkenny are at football
