Deviation from the norm is the only fair standard you can apply. There are hurling counties who would get hammered by the elite teams certainly, such is the nature of the game. But they are nevertheless strongly competitive with other hurling counties and more and more of them are beginning to challenge for league and championship honours. Kilkenny footballers are competitive with absolutely no one. They are the worst by a huge distance.
really-fag breaks when was this?? i remember 1 free kick from the full forward line that didnt go over, no more. what about the second half performace? there is a problem in kk football yeār all right in what your saying and its county board level and trust me that is being sortedā¦ But the senior football team is getting better and only for four or five KEY players missing due to county hurling presure and injuries from club trainings on friday night the limerick score would most definitely be a lot less. we still would have lost the game but any team missing all of there half back line would suffer and suffer we didā¦ Half time in that dressing room was the worst moment of my life. maybe we were overwhelmed, not tuned in i dont know but very few teams would have kept into limerick for that 20min spell in the first half. im not for 1 second making excuses for us and this is my own personal opinion but if you ask any of the other 299 people that were at that game what the second half performance was like they would say there is football in us, that no team would have came back out on the field after being manhandled in the first half like we did in the way that we did. There is character in this team, a never say die attitude and loads of pride. would you have come back out in the second half?? Only lately have we had a proper trainer join us and i can see the diference already, ye might not, but some day soon ye will. changes are happening. Its days like Limerick that makes you not give up, to keep going, to want to get better, to but in the huge effort thats needed, to listen to your friends taking the piss out of the situation and reading stuff on the internet and papers. if we give up now all of these bad days would be for notting, but how great would it be to turn around when things get better when we do start seriously competing in divison 4 and say we saw it through when noone else belived in us.
Ill be shocked and amazed in equal measure if the Kilkenny Co Board do anything other than an odd ācome on now lads weāll have to give this a better goā speech at convention and an odd Monthly meeting during this Year or in the coming Years, what are they going to do anyway??,at the moment playing the football league/championship at the start of the calender Year looks like te best way to ensure clubs actually compete in it,the malaise and disinterest shown to Football by 99% of the Kilkenny GAA clubs shows little sign of changing as far as I can see.
Just last Weekend 3 underage football games were fixed and in perfect Weather Conditions and with no hurling on 3 walkovers were given to Danesfort,Bennetsbridge and Thomastown, not one game actually happened.Im full of admiration for Footballer his dedication to the cause is great to see but its going to be an uphill battle.
