First big test of the new Galway management. If they can regroup and improve a few percent from the last game then I think they should account for Clare comfortably. They need to concentrate on maintaining their shape and the forwards need to be working better together as a unit. If they’ve made some improvements in those two aspects in the last few weeks they should account for Clare comfortably.
Clare were poor against Limerick as a team with some horrendous unnecessary short passing to a man under just as much or more pressure, but individually they played very well. They’ll be hard beat.
I actually think Galway’s performance against Kilkenny was a good base to improve upon. They got a lot of things right and a lot of the things they got wrong second half are fixable. Over to Galway to see whether they’ve regrouped, regathered themselves and improved a few percent, or if they’re just going to implode.
Clare on the other hand, it can’t be overstated how bad limerick are and they made very hard work of it. I think they have a lot more work to do and less time to do it.
Galway will be good. If and its a big if we can turn ye over clare will go all the way
It really is hard to know how good Clare are. I don’t think they know themselves to be honest. They managed to keep Limerick at arms length and in fairness looked at all times if they had at least another gear.
Galway on the other hand had no answer once the expected Kilkenny onslaught arrived. They were forewarned of this and still did nothing to counteract it. They were similar to Limerick in that they had no one to grab the game by the scruff of the neck. This has to be very worrying for them. They would be better off going in at half time a score or two down against Clare
Strongly disagree. I was amazed that the game plan set out by Donoghue & Co was essentially the same as last years AI ( bar personnel changes ).
The manner of the second half collapse also was pretty similar to last years defeat to KK.
IMO, Galway have it all to do to best Clare. Plus, Thurles is a terrible hunting ground for Galway.
The tide is coming in there at half nine, Mike. Go out there and do something about it.
I have a few sandbags in the shed.
Exactly.
Sure we’ll see I suppose. The way I see it, Clare struggled to overcome probably the shittest team in the country, Galway performed well enough against the all Ireland favourites for long periods.
A sharp first half & a snooze in the second half against Clare will result in a similar result to the Leinster Final.
Galway are an enigma. They could come out and blow Clare away or get moody after half an hour and throw their rattles out of the pram. Either way barring a collapse of epic proportions there is only two teams that have performed in this year’s championship
I believe Beaghs Adrian Touhey is very close to the team. Would be nice to see a Beagh man involved, they wont spare timber on their near neighbours,
the miracle that is carnmore continues, they win yet another relegation playoff after being hammered in games all year.
how do we siphon some of this cultural city money to the county board?
The county board are in enough trouble over money being siphoned as it is
sometimes two wrongs do make a right
H’on the Bomber!
surprised there has been no official update on this recently…
Galway hurling board was shut down for less.
I’d heard the gardai were involved, but they have quashed worse in Galway.
Edit, I should clarify that’s the forum, not the board ( not sure there even is a Galway hurling board)
