You just love a good row font yađ
Shouldnât have been beating comfortably. There were five other teams in Ulster who had made it to the last 4 of the All Ireland at least once in that time, there was nothing comfortable about it. Kerry werenât beating Monaghan, Armagh or Down comfortably when they faced them.
Down and Fermanagh were benefactors of the open draw. They were nothing teams that achieved nothing only a once off run.
Fermanagh were back in All Ireland qfs as were Down. They were not nothing teams, they were capable of putting it up to anyone on their day. Kerry did face the same variety of teams as Tyrone did as they were always entering the draw in the last 12 stage, the one year they hit the backdoor early they laboured past Longford and Antrim and Sligo were a missed penalty away from sending them packing. The whole basis of what you are saying is inherently flawed.
Thatâs 2009 youâre referring to and Kerry won the All Ireland in 2009.
Kerry entered the qualifiers at the same stage in 2002 and ended up losing the All Ireland final by one point.
Kerry can win it anyway. Thatâs why Kerry have 37 All Irelandâs and Tyrone have 3 and a bucket load of excuses.
Yes, that is 2009 Iâm talking about and Iâm displaying how they struggled to deal with mid ranking teams outside Muster. They have it easy, beat a Div 3 or 4 team to progress to the last 12 every year.
but making the 1/4 is not an achievement between 02 and 09 there was only 3 good teams in Ireland. Kerry, Tyrone and Armagh. Kerry got to the final every year bar 03 when the eventual winners beat them. You can go on about league and divisions and what no but you are wrong.
Forde was a brilliant player. One of the best forwards I have ever seen and definitely better than Declan Browne.
Youâve ignored what I said. You were talking about how Kerry never laboured past the lower bracket teams, they did labour past them, they did struggle at times with them but most of their games were turkey shoots against inconsequential Munster fodder which got them to the latter stages without a trouble.
Monaghan gave them two very close fought games in 07 and 08 where they made them perform to a high level to get past them, Monaghan left the 07 game behind - they had the beating of them that day. Sligo should have accounted for them in 2009 but missed a penalty to fire them into the lead with moments left. Why do you ignore that?
but yet they didnât lose.
Only three teams knocked Kerry out between 02 and 09. Cork, Tyrone and Armagh. They all won all irelands. The teams that Tyrone lost to were vastly inferior teams and this is confirmed by them doing next to nothing in the championship. Kerry never lost to inferior teams while Tyrone consistently did.
Cork never knocked Kerry out of the Championship since the qualifiers came in. Only 5 counties have done that since the qualifiers came in and four of them have been Ulster sides.
Were not talking about the qualifiers. We are talking about the years Tyrone were a good team. Kerry have been average the last 5 years and still won 2 all irelands and through away at least one more.
We are talking about All Irelands, five teams have knocked Kerry out of the All Ireland Championship since the qualifiers came in and four of those have been from Ulster. They are given a safe passage through to the last 12 every year where they donât have to play any team who are remotely threatening, it the tables are turned and they had to be exposed to early knockout games then they might not find it so easy as they had a lot of trouble along the road in 2009, rather than these comfortable second gear victories you were proclaiming earlier.
What about the Down team that knocked Kerry out in '09?
They were only comfortable because kerry were so good.
2010 Mac.
Huh, they werenât comfortable when they were playing Monaghan in 07 and 08 or when they relied on Sligo missing a penalty in 09.
Did they lose? No. Tyrone lost to awful Meath, Derry, Laois sides in that 02 - 09 period when they were always either the number 1 or number 2 team in the country.
If its All Irela ds we are talking about, and weâre going to use your standard 15 year bracket, then the only teams that are worth talking about are Kerry, Dublin, Tyrone, Cork, Donegal, Galway & Armagh.
Nobody else is relevant.
In trying to argue some sort of moral victory nimby has simply exposed his complete lack of understanding of sport, in particular football.
