Laois GAA- bunch of hicks turning on eachother

Yes, he was the Minor coach in 2016. Funny that he likes to mention this quite a lot in the media, while at the same time neglecting to mention his part in the decision to use a sweeper with the wind against Tipperary in the Munster Final, without any real practice using one, refusing to alter it when it clearly wasn’t working. Yeah he leaves that episode out.

As I said, Daly is a nice man and a good guy but he should give the drum he’s beating in the media about the Limerick Academy a break for a while. He was there a wet week in the grand scheme of things and in general his term is viewed as a disaster and a bit of a running joke in that set up

Limerick don’t talk out of shop. Clare might, but we don’t anymore.

We’re better than all the banjo Sister fiddlers

If anything, he’s always at pains talk down the effect of his time with Limerick. He lost a minor game :hushed:

Look it, it’s the same for every forum moderators. Somebody had to say it

He fell short of the standards required in the Limerick Hurling Academy.

Why isn’t he involved in the Clare Underage set up?

He doesn’t want to get involved with the Fitz administration apparently. I think that feeling might be mutual

What, Pat Fitz has control over Clare u14, u15 and u16 teams?? Really?

Not too many appointments made without his blessing anyway, in any role really

Laois GAA is ripping the country apart.

The bastards

Now there you go, there’s a revolutionary idea that ye can implement which costs no money. All underage teams organised and ran by a focused group of people, not the Senior Board or Bord na nÓg who have plenty of other things to be running. Ye can even call it an Academy if ye like. And you don’t need any JP to do that.

Apples and oranges. None of that can be implemented without the okay of the secretary.

So the issue is that ye can’t organise yourselves to oust Pat Fitz? I thought you said Limerick’s success was down to finances… hmmm

You’re suggesting that Gerry and Joe had to go through the county convention floor to set up the academy? That it had nothing to do with JP’s largesse?
Stop now with the fantasy

That is exactly what happened. Control of the underage teams was handed over to a ‘steering committee’ attached to the county board and was headed up by Joe McKenna. circa 2009/2010. It was not a peaceful transition of power and there are still little politics that continue to be played out all of the time between the Academy, Bord na nÓg and the County Board, but in general it works well for everyone.

The setting up of the Academy cost nothing. As I said, most of what Limerick are doing right which is having the biggest impact is costing very very little.

The fact it was headed by Joe and backed by JP might have swung a few votes?
If there was a similar backer here delegates would think about going against the top table but they won’t in the absence of one.

You’re completely over egging the JP angle regarding the Academy. Obviously Joe was a driving force along with a few others and JP has always been a financial supporter but that is not how the Academy came into being.

In fact, the JP angle is vastly over egged anyway. Limerick Gaa raised 50k this year on a Golf Classic, another 75k raffling a car, broke their holes during Covid to push both. 125k raised themselves. There’s no blank cheque and never has been. He is a superb man and generous sponsor yes, but he’s not a fool!

A rising tide gathers plenty moss. The money wasn’t flowing like that always

Whether it’s right or wrong without Jp mcmanus handouts limerick hurlers would be struggling to beat Offaly. Infairness though All the other major counties get huge funding one way or the other but it obviously isn’t easy for some counties.
