Your man @anon7035031 blathers on about âkafkaesqueâ.
This is kafkaesque.
Itâs fascinating to see the different reactions about this case from the jobsworth unsackable public servant compared to guys who engage with real clients and customers in a competitive market. Cc @Bandage
I remember a somewhat similar story from home over 20 years ago. A lad just missed out on law in UCD by a few points. He got his exams rechecked and he got the necessary extra points to join the course. This was in October when he found out and and UCD refused to let him join the course that year and told him he could join the following year⌠His old lad being a hard-core FF man went down the political line ringing the FF TD at the time seeing if if some political pressure could force the issue but to no avail. The family has resigned themselves to the young lad taking a year out, when it was suggested they give Michael Lowry a try. A phone call was made to Lowry and within 30 minutes UCD were on the phone allowing the lad to start his course immediately. A five vote swing in that household from FF to Lowry for the next 25 years.
Maybe that young girl from Wexford should contact her local independent TD
Mick will sort it.
Many a man/woman has been on waiting lists for hip replacements for years, before a phone call to Lowry has lead to an ambulance being at their front door within the hour taking them to Dublin to get the job done.
of course thatâs without paying lipservice to the problems that clientist politicians create and add to waiting lists.
I hope the SEC have an officer capable of adding up the sums right and then writing a letter confirming the correct number of points and sending it to her on time by then.
Heâll probably have to work overtime to get that done by noon on Friday.
Fair play to that girl taking on the system like that.
You think sheâd get a job for the year and wait until next year.
Thatâs the rich and entitled for you though.
A glaring lack of cop on from the powers that be here.
Just admit you made a mistake, amend the points total, let her take the college place that she has earned and is entitled to - panic over.
Official Ireland would wear you down with the pen pushers and jobs worths.
Tfk summed up in two posts.
She is on the radio right now.
Youâd imagine if the colleges draw from the CAO then surely the dates for appeals etc would line up with the last dates for admission to courses? Hopefully the lads and lady pen pushers and pusheresses can get together and sync up the two systems so this doesnât happen again
Watching this young Wexford lass on the news. She came across very well.
+1. Very impressive interview on Six One.
Must be a nice dent in the trust fund bringing it all the way to the High Court. Would judge award costs in a case like this?
Heâll award costs against the State. So the taxpayer will be down another chunk because some fucking eejit in the department wouldnât do the right thing.
