Very hard find a condition like that because it will compile and pass tests, especially if the requirements were wrong in the first place.
A false positive

All the BA’s fault.
The likelier explanation is that there was no proper testing done as they changed the model at the last minute to remove the criteria that gave weight to school history and ran out of time
I wonder which company got the contract to build the application and will the government be looking for some of the money back
If the model had wrong parameters to begin with it was trained incorrectly. I don’t know how they managed to get an acceptable standard deviation.
Linear regression is difficult
So what happens in the following scenario.
Johnny and Mary both apply for the same course.
Johnny gets the last place on the course at say 300 points.
Initially Mary had 295 points but after the correction she now has 305 points and Johnny stays at 300. Does Johnny now get fucked out on his ear and his place given to Mary?
50,000 lines of code? There was in their fuck.
Teachers grade/curve
That was the magic code.
These court cases no doubt kicked this up when they were going to have explain they went looking
It’s too late for this year you’d think
It’s possible that the school history variable was assigned a higher weighting than the junior cert score variable and removing the latter muddied the water. I’m not sure to what extent they leaned on the UK A Level model so I’m only speculating
Or possibly off to the high court
Even at that they won’t be able to accommodate the 6000 students at this stage. Even if it’s only say 3000 that could or should have got an offer.
Presumably a lot of them will have got their course anyway. Some cluster fuck though
College for everyone
Can one of the educators here let me know what sort of numbers is normal when it comes to students sending back papers for retest when unhappy with grade? Would you get 10% of all papers?
Sinn Fein esque
There was a mother on Joe Duffy today. I’m still trying to decide whether I agree with her or not. The son wanted to go to Cork for whatever his first choice was. But he was downgraded in a couple of subjects and got his second choice in Galway. Turns out hes now quite happy but the mother still wants to appeal his results on the basis that he didn’t get the grades he should have got and she wants that on the record. I can absolutely see her point but I’m not sure whether shes doing it for the right reasons. Plus if hes happy then I’d be inclined to let it go.
Throw the CV of anyone with a 2020 leaving cert in the bin. Bigger asterisk than the 2013 All Ireland hurling title
The magic college tree
There’ll be no one left to do a trade and we short enough as it is
I know I have skin in the game kid but you’re throwing the baby out with the bathwater there
