Leinster Hurling Thread *

Listened to a bit of the first half of the Munster final on Radio One.

That Shane McGrath chap is woeful, squeaky voice would go through you.

Marty has become insufferable too. “They’ll celebrate that in Semple Stadium, Thurles and they’ll celebrate it in Ennis, Co Clare”.

They can hardly be worse. Was surprised how young they are overall, Harte and Coen 27, David Burke 28 and Canning 29 are the oldest outfield players. Latter 2 have a lot of mileage though.

Thurles will be a throw back to the sahahran like conditions of Pearse Stadium. I expect us to thrive down there.

Few questions.

What was the attendance yesterday in Croke Oark?
What is the capacity of Thurles? Will the terraces be open?
What is the likely attendance in Thurles next Sunday?

The long club campaigns take a lot of effort . Albeit no provincial games .

Just over 40k yesterday in Croker. Must take in to account those in attendance for the Joe McDonagh game too.

To be fair when it comes to Leinster hurling it is Davy and Wexford that are box office. 62 k last year .

Is it on tv?

Nothing confirmed yet. RTÉ and Sky could be over their quota for the year.

Replays are a different package

Thurles will suit Galway better, Tribesmen by 4

What year was it when Kerry played Tyrone in the football on rte 1 and they showed possibly cork v tipp in killarney on two in the hurling ?

Bumper weekend ahead.

All four Round Four football qualifiers, both preliminary hurling quarter finals and Leinster final replay.

Hopefully the Leinster final replay will be shown live but maybe not. If that starts at 3 they’d hardly show a football game live at 5pm on a Sunday evening…?

3pm start indicates no television coverage.

The 3pm throw in is a bit of a spanner in the works alright. 2pm or 4pm would have been better

Live on the interweb, perhaps?

I think RTE are committed to showing one football qualifier on Sunday afternoon - and Sky have two the night before.

A pain in the hole if the Leinster final won’t be televised. That looks more appealing than any of the four football matches.

They’ll probably fob it off with online streaming but that’s a shit way to watch a game of hurling.

Laois v Monaghan - Parnell Park Sunday 2pm
Roscommon v Armagh - Navan Sunday 4pm

Are these the only ones that clash?
