Nowhere near as many lies as I’d expect in fairness. The best footballing lie I’ve heard was where a Kilrea club man claimed to have met a poor kick out with his first and sent it clane over the bar…needless to say it was a laced up ball and the incident occurred on a wet day.
Pakie played senior intercounty in four consecutive decades.
Has that ever been done before or since I wonder?
Ocean FM now, 2 hours of sheer nostalgia.
Tremendous stuff, fabulous contributions by a select few. Incredible to think that those cock-the-walk townie cunts couldn’t field a minor team in 49/50 forcing the great men (Cathal Flynn) into seeking refugee status with Fenagh. Flush as we were with promising minors, Frs.Jimmy McKeon and our current cleric Fr.Tommy Greenan amongst the more famous, we, in true Fay-na tradition, never looked gift horses in the mouth, we won 2 minors in a row… The anchor man on Ocean isn’t up to a gig of this magnitude, this was a job for Ballinamore’s finest, Tommy Moran.
I’d safely say two of them kicked senior for the county, Dermot Reynolds and Fintan McBrien. All the North Leitrim lads were either budding building contractors or engaged in forestry operations. Surely there’s a VS in Manorhamilton?.

We meet the winner of Mayo V Sligo in the Connacht semi-final. June no doubt but venues and dates later. We can always refer to it as the “day of the Connacht s/f”. 2 days out this year then, 1st and last. Fuck Mayo…
It’s gonna be a tough year.Sligo Louth and Antrim all with new managers, then either Sligo or Mayo in the semi final who will have a championship game under their belts. If it was a regular year we could build up a bit of steam in the league but it’s very hard to know how it will go.
Looka, if we’re looking in the wing-mirrors at Sligo, Louth or Antrim then we’re not progressing new managers or not. Once you cross the whitewash you’re on your own. I wouldn’t fear either of the 1st two but the Saffrons are doughty battlers and have troubled us plenty before.
A lot will come down to the fixtures and venues, but if we had 4 points after 2 games and Dublin in Pairc Séan we’d be unstoppable ( well, kind of).
Attitude and a bit of luck and we’ll be right in it. Promotion must be the target yet again.
Without a doubt. We should be favourites to go back up really as we have been operating at a higher level last year.Weve beaten Antrim last time we met and hammered Louth in our last 2 outings so I wouldn’t fear them.If we have a full squad to pick from and 2 home games we should go up.
16/05 away to Sligo.
23/05 home to Louth.
30/05 away to Antrim.
2 away is never great, the Antrim game will be the decider. Not overly pleased. Antrim at home on the final day with everything on the line would have been epic.
