Gerry McGovern has passed away
âHe threw his lotâ for fucks sake. Nonetheless the late Gerry & I helped bring the faoi 16 crown to Cloone in 1966 or thereabouts. A tireless GAA grafter. RIP to him.
Aw!
RIP
Not the best referee from memory but seemed like a nice fella.
Didnât he have the big Connacht gig at one stage?
President of the Connacht Council 2018/21 and he refereed the ill-fated county final of 1999. He failed to blow the final whistle in time thereby denying a small, impoverished rural club a title they were waiting 70+ years for. Cries for square ball, push in the back, ball already wide went unheard and Manor secured their 12 title in a row.* Small clubs never catch the break.
- May be exaggerated and the claims were in fact wish lists. A middling referee. RIP all the same.
My Dad thought him a useless ref. And he was knowledgeable*
*Usually FF good, FG bad.
I left you the tap-in and you took it alright. GrrrrâŚ.
Kieran, his son is on the minors I think.Daughter Leah plays with the Leitrim ladies
Signed off with a good win against Tipperary.Should have won by more but went for goals rather than take points as we needed to win by as much as possible.Martain McGowan reckons plunkett Dolan Rooney ROR and basically everyone who didnât commit this year has committed to togging out next season.Ill believe it when I see it but if itâs true weâll have a very good team.
If half of the lads from last year come back, then we will have a team that will compete. But I feel like itâs a case of when youâre gone youâre gone, bar a few warriors who came back when they promised they would over the years.
There ends one of the worst years for the senior team in a long time, but Iâll take some positives from todayâs win, we beat them last year but by a smaller margin iirc and they pushed us all the way.
presume Poacher is being kept on? heard nothing lately, it was a rough year but was not all his fault, and the only way from here is up so looks like he is getting kept on so far
Youâre looking for the unpopular opinions thread I think
I can see how it would fit in there. But I would not believe it strongly enough. Just a thought seeing as a few counties have parted ways with mgmt and they fared better than we did, R Galligan with Cavan perfect example.
All aboard the merry go round. Until we have a team that will stay in place 4-5 years I dunno what improvements we will make, if any
This is the problem most 3/4 division teams have. A steady panel with a decent manager is required.Looks like Poacher is getting another year by the looks of it.
Thereâs a great opportunity there for an âawkward promotional photoâ with Coxâs Steakhouse.
