Not the worst performance ever.Played well at times but our inexperience showed.Im am not a fan of this buck from Louth playing in goals.
London were very physical with us from the off and i thought the ref let them away with a lot.In saying that it wont do these young lads any harm.Very disappointed with young Benny, thought he tried too hard to be billy big balls at times with some long range shooting and passing.Ive no doubt hes a good footballer tbf.
Laois footballers are notorious for dropping in and out as it suits. Honestly cannot remember the last year we had anything like a full deck to choose from.
Hurlers are similar too come to think of it.
Im on about lads either quitting or emigrating or just opting out.
Benny Óg wasn’t surrounded by established shooters so in a way I’d cut him a bit of slack - at least he took the chances on. We realistically have to look at these young lads and hope 5/6 of them come through.
The most pressing issue is the back 7 and it’s already clear that Gaffney will have to start between the sticks. Diffley back to 6 and everything else up for grabs more or less. Sean Harkin and Eoin McLoughlin definite contenders but it’s looking ropey after that.
100%.Although seeing as O Se started 2 matches you have to say it looks like he favours him.The 45 he gave away at the end of the first half was pathetic, fucking thing was going wide and then just to make sure he punches it out. Gave London a handy point. His kick outs are terrible too.We also should have pushed way up when London were down a man for the lasr 10 minutes but we still sta backvand London actually looked like they had the extra man
From having witnessed poor Matt Gaffey having his surname incorrectly spelt for decades I have to call out that it is ‘Gaffey’ not ‘Gaffney’.
My mothers name was Gaffney ive never heard of anyone called Gaffey
Other than Matt and family I haven’t either.
He’s a Galway man.
2004
Matt must be a big age now, he’s gone a bit shook looking.
Made a huge contribution to Mohill to be fair to him. A nice man.
He’s over the 80 mark.
Aside from the unavailability of Barry Mac it’s about as good as we can muster.
There’s a couple of useful lads on the bench but imagine what Barry, Dolan, Plunkett and possibly Beirne could add. We’ll have a rattle at it.
Questions remain about the back 6 but this is where we are.
Glad to see Gaffey back in goals. We are decent enough up front but our backs are poor.In saying that Galway and Roscommon weakened teams are proably a lot better than anything we’ll play in Div 4.As uou say yourself lad…its the hope that kills ye
Diffley at 6 will be a big improvement on previous incumbents. Plunkett was terrific there in 2019 and Diffley isn’t far off that standard. Midfield looks solid, Quinn a middling overhead catcher and Keegan is energetic.
Barrys a huge loss tbf but no point rushing him back,we’ll need him later
How long is he out for?
Great to see Ryan back and captaining us.
I dont know tbh.
Hamstring issues. Notoriously difficult to deal with in the short term. Time is the solution but when everyone is nagging at you to get back/we’re stuck/we’ll be relegated you feel bound to try and the problem returns.
Ryan O’Rourke a case in point.
Hasnt played college either thankfully.Hes an unreal talent tbf.He reminds me of Fenton but with the abiity to kick 2 pointers.
