Let's Riot! - well kind of

Im shocked they threw their dinners away. How many omlettes were lost today?

I agree. CIF could do with a serious battering.

Careful now

5 Riot Police! Top middle of the picture there’s 4 guards and a dog tackling one spotty fecker, top left of pic there’s a guard talking to his dog. Top right of the pic is GSH with his hands in his pockets!

Bottom left, our Noddy with the pink cap

What a load of utter twats. It’s the parents that should be protesting for having to raise and pay for the education of Oisin or Iarlaith or some other D4 kid going to UCD.

Of course there is place for humour and those throwing eggs and holding the ‘careful now’ sign are noble citizens. The students that took this protest seriously and sat down in protest chanting should be removed from our state.

If they organise another march they’ll have every scumbag in the city joining in looking for a go at the shades.

Seems the fees are not coming now anyway, according to Newstalk this morning anyway.

Some cracking pictures on www.thejournal.ie this morning of the riots, one cunt got rightly split open

Odd tweet from Paul Gogarty this morning commenting on the march being a good turnout and reaffirming his position on fees. He’s a contrary fucker is Gogarty but he’s one of only 3 Greens with a hope of getting re-elected I’d say (Ryan and Sargent being the other two).

apparently the socialist party hi jacked the whole thing… you involved rocko?

The fees were never coming… they intend to increase registration from 1500 to 3000.

With the greens advocating an increase of up to 2500.

Sorry, i meant the increase, you pedantic cunt

Great shot on www.thejournal.ie of general mayhem with a defunct Anglo Irish Bank in the background. 1000 words…

It was chilly out there.

Yours etc,
GSH.

Just keeping you on the straight and narrow buddy!

“shove your fees up your gees”

That’s not very nice now is it?

Only in Ireland could you have a registration fee of €3000 which takes five minutes to do involving the stub of a bank giro, a digital camera and a few kindly old ladies sitting behind desks in an old hall. A registration fee is a €52 non-refundable administration charge.

Personally I think college should remain accessible to all with a fee of between €500-€1000 per student per year, which will make potential drop outs think twice but is not savagely penal on a student populous who will find it difficult to get part time work to keep them going. Perhaps a further fee could be extracted some years down the line when they’re more set up. However I can see how the govt won’t go for this as 75% of the student population willl have emigrated in a few years and may be less than expeditious in sending back fees.

what do you mean treated as adults?
they have a vote, they can marry, they can have sex, they wont be put into care if they piss in someones letterbox.

while most of them live away from home, generally thats because they do so because of parental and state handouts. where do these students you speak of who support themselves financially come up with the cash to get themselves through a year if the state and their parents dont contribute? you wont bank 10-15k doing part time in tesco too easy id imagine

the aussie system is a dister zone, its in huge defecit that will never recover, it encourages emigration and burdens the student with debt and personal credit rating issues

What if a student decides not to go to college after their leaving cert? go for a year on the dole and then apply for college. presume the govt would pay up - grants etc the works. I know a good few doing post grad courses at the mo where the govt pay everything to basically keep their numbers off the dole queue.

the 1k fee is sufficient. driving personal debt on a student from the moment they graduate is a cop out of epic proportions and will make university the sole preserve of the elite classes of which it is in England. those that can afford to sit their leaving cert in a private school can pay double the tuition fees alright. but of course the sindo reading types on here couldnt countenance that. the grant scheme needs to be totally reformed - some of the wealthiest people I know got grants in college, fuck it I worked at the weekends and I was all the better for it.

in any case great student protest, 40k is a serious turnout. Bit like any event it will attract a minority of clowns but all in all a good protest against a further attack on the young people of the country that will have to work to rebuild a society destroyed, eliminate a catastrophic national debt and rebuild the country from the cabal that utterly destroyed it and pay their pensions. Fuck it is a sick state of affairs. If the rest of the gutless, docile Irish took to the streets a general election would have been forced ages ago. But as society took a blind eye to institutional sexual abuse by a corrupt church with no authority so they now turn a blind eye to self serving corruption by a disgraced cabal with no mandate.

actually went to a student protest in dublin before, well actually there was a free bus up to dublin and we went on the piss but a good place to meet women with the free radicals running inside them. id say there was a fair amount of sideways jogging to the spirit of che guevara going on last night. drugs, drink, sex, revolution - must be a great time to be young.
