Right lads. My plan for a big run this year is off. With restrictions as they are, we wonāt get down home to do the planned route.
Iām going to try and do something long, either the bank holiday weekend or in the week after it. I mightnāt make a full marathon out of the route but Iāll try and keep going as long as I can.
Youāve the smallest county to run around, itāll never do
Iāll find a way mate
Did a ten mile run last Friday but seem to have done myself an injury. Only really flared up on Sunday. Rest and icing doesnt seem to be helping. Grand when resting but get pain when I lift my foot up towards my body when doing a move like you would doing a calf stretch. Pain is located on top of the foot from the ankle down to the inside of my foot. Flares up when I do anything above a leisurely walk. Am I crippled for life or will it sort itself out after another few days! Iām slightly concerned it could be some sort of hairline fracture but theres been no noticable swelling to speak of.
A hairline would be more noticeable when you put pressure on the foot as opposed to lifting it upā¦ The description you gave there wasnt great to be honest ā¦ but it half sounds like peroneal tendonitis ā¦
When it comes to running , unless youāve done something like a hairline or metatarsal injury, I always get in around the injured area with an object and dig into it - most of the time itās muscular or fascia and it just needs a little bit of anti inflamm and a release through massage ā¦ roll the shit out of your calves, probe in around your ankles and foot ā¦and if you find any tender areas, dont be afraid to dig in a bitā¦ I had something similar to you when we were in the height of our lockdown running and it was a lower calf/ankle issue and I just dug in good and hard to release any trigger points.
But as I said, it could be anything and you could be dead this time tomorrow.
Foam roll your calves. Very often tightness here can transfer down foot. I had something similar for a while, and it cleared up.
Hope to do 10 (ten) miles this weekend with a target of a half marathon on the Sunday of the Bank Holiday.
Short recce this morning. An out and back of approx 10km on a section I hadnāt explored before. A couple of stream crossings. A very mucky section at start. Some lovely single track trail and grassy sections.
I did 5k Thursday, first run in weeksā¦ Iāll see if I can do 6k Tuesday.
