We all know Downes can be very frustrating and has blown more cold than hot, but if Kiely didnt have a falling out with him last year and wasnt so stubborn he should be working with him getting the best out of him. He’s direct, can win ball and can take a score. He should be an option off the bench at least for when/ if a game opens up.

I hope it works out so that if we beat Waterford we are guaranteed a Munster final spot and we can run a few guys in the Clare game, I expect it will. We’ll have at least one or maybe two enforced changes next week and that will probably be enough. With Gillane out you’d think they’d find a space for Dowling but Tom Morrissey’s performance might keep him on the bench.

None of our players were “suited to a two man full forward line” when the rest of the team was langering high aimless ball onto the Clare extra man. They couldn’t even hit to space and make it a footrace. We completely lost the heads and reverted to fucking it up in air. In saying that, our half forward line mostly failed to operate and rarely offered an outlet.

There a huge load of question marks all over the field all of a sudden. I’d say at least half the positions in the team have major question marks over them. Some major stick or twist calls to be made. I expect Kiely is going to have to double down. Like for like replacements if anything, we don’t have time for much rebuilding.

In all fairness, that’s like shooting fish in a barrel. Although not quite as bad as the lad who said Limerick’s B team would give their A team their best game this year, and is now saying Limerick have no defensive options.

You have to allow lads blow off a bit of steam in the run up to a game, mate. It’s not in the spirit of TFK to throw it back in their face if it goes wrong.
