Some strength to be fair
Only if Tom Morrissey was from Clare. Farty was like a lad at a wake when Cork came back and walked all over Clare in the Munster final
There was one blatant one out around midfield when the game was in the melting pot, I think it was OâDonovan had the ball, right in front of the ref, a Kilkenny hand came in grabbed him by the shoulder and hauled him backwards causing him to lose posession. I donât know how the ref didnât see it. Reid pulled a nasty one down on someones hand at one stage as well as he was coming out with the ball.
Kyler is some beast for 20.
I think KK got a score from the OâDonovan one.
KK were pulling hurleyâs out of lads hands as well.
They tried to get Gillane sent off at the start of the second half as well. His man was trying to rile him and giving him digs and they had a rutting match. Gillane went down and was duly told to get up by McGrath, which he did
Is this a Patrickswell thing?
no. Iâd say not. Theyâd be quick to give it back to you out in the 'Well. Byrnes and Gillane would have hot tempers Iâd say.
Like DâUnbelievables say⌠he hits you, you hit the ground, we get the free, he gets the line
Where did Gillane learn that going down easy can benefit your team greatly? Against cork when it was done to him by that cork cunt. I said at the time it sets a precedent and look what has happened since.
Cody must have told his boys up it at HT as the pulling, dragging and dunting that was going on just after half time was gas⌠Gillane especially was on the brunt of it - the umpires kept coming in telling them to cut it out and finally the ref came in and told them to stop it even tho it was largely coming all one way.
KK mullockers at it again. No surprise
An arab looking lad in green
Amidst the heady euphoria I would ask you to turn the result on its head and read the game through a defeat for a different take on individual performances.
In that context an altogether more sobering analysis presents itself.
Take nothing away from the effort and the result - we won and won in a character revealing fashion - but run a cold eye over the contest and see what you think.
I think we have an awful lot to do.
Quaid was poor with his distribution at crucial times. It needs to be addressed.
Aside from Sean Finn the full back line got away with it yesterday. Thatâs fine when you win and if you can âget away with itâ every day youâd be happy, but the calibre of forwards remaining wonât fear Casey or English on that performance.
Same story in the half back line. Morrissey came into it and was excellent but the other two were off the pace and weâre stuttering about. Hannon recovered well but Byrnes didnât. Just do the basics. Just. Do. The. Basics.
Cian Lynch was off with his distribution (out of hand and off the stick) for most of the game and Donovan was ragged for the first 20mins but improved hugely thereafter.
The half forward line were immense but Tom Morrissey was out of the game for the first 25 mins. An obvious and impressive recovery.
Mulcahy aside, the full forward line didnât show any ruthlessness. In an All-Ireland Quarter-Final youâre nothing if youâre not ruthless. Hopeully that comes with time, but time is running out. Goals win games. So does 27 points but you wonât get that everyday.
So thereâs a huge amount to work on. On top of what worked (and worked very well) we have a nice challenge for the next two weeks to knit it together.
None of them lacked for effort or desire and that should make an improved performance the next day a very difficult proposition for Cork.
Fuck off with this negative trip. A team of kids playing well within themselves just beat Kilkenny. Itâs the first time since in donkey years weâve knocked one of the big three out of championship. Team and management will know they have to improve but they will. I have no doubt about it.
As was Hegarty.
Or you could look at it, as a team that created four clear cut goal chances and took none, two great saves and two poor finishes and only got 2 scoreable frees in the entire game still managed to rack up 25 points from play. Another day youâd expect a return of at least two goals from those chances and another 4 or 5 frees at least
One criticism I might have is that we can be a little bit too formulaic at times, where fellas play the ball to where they âshouldâ play it, but without actually looking to see if there is a man there.
Hannon noticeably at the end. Gillane had burst his hole making a run from left to right into space and Hannon hit it to left corner-forward where there was nobody left.
Exactly you want to peak in the next two games. You want to be coming into all Ireland semi finals with stuff to work on.
