Heās a kid asked to do a role. Heās a good one who hopefully will fulfill his potential when picked in his place
Quaid was on the near post for the first goal for no reason. He also really needs to stop waving points that are clealry over the bar wide. Itās incredibly annoying.
Look at that Morrissey point on the Sunday Game; brilliant turnover by Kyle, then by DOD.
English was beaten to a 50/50 ball for the first goal, simple, Quaid and Morrissey were not at fault.
Limerick were very good today. They will make a right game of it Saturday week. Cork by 7
Tis is easy live off the 20 menās glory that put blood and line on the green today. All those lads deserve huge credit
Thatās nonsense if anything English slipped. Quaid in the right position could have intercepted that ball. Morrissey was ten yards behind his man as he struck the ball into the net.
You couldnāt blame Quaid for the goal, it hit the far post
I wouldnāt be an expert but there was surely little reason for him to be standing next to the inside post. If he was positioned centrally and acted without hesitation heād have intercepted the ball. The ball flight made it very difficult for English.
You canāt position yourself centrally when the ball is to either side of the goal or youāre leaving the near post open. Morrissey is probably most at fault but heād have got away with it 9 times out of 10
Oh right I thought you were on about Quaidās positioning as John McGrath took the shot. Iād have to see it again to know if his positioning was bad as the ball went in
English possibly loses sight of the ball but as he attempts to unbalance McGrath he slips to his knees.
Iām talking about him initially intercepting the ball coming in.
Just my tuppence worth.AppleCrumbled , Nicky could do fuck all about the first goal , get over it, Nothing is perfect in life, For all the haters , I thought Dan Morrissey was excellent, Declan Hannon likewise. The two corners were excellent , but anyone who thinks Seamie was good is delusional and making excuses, Mike Casey for the next day and no other changes. By the way I thought Hegarty was awesome today tackling , chasing and scored 2 points from play. Gillane was stand out in the corner , won loads of ball , got frees and Graeme was electric. Roll on June weekend
Iām being hyper critical buddy. Dan M was brillaint and Iām delighted for him. I know him a small bit and the effort and dedication he puts into it is admirable.
Dont Be . This is a super win , whatever the fuck Tipp team was out. Build confidence, Gain momentum, go on a run , but dont be critical of our best win in 5 years. Let the management do their job. They seem to be doing a good job of it.By the way the minors won and the 16ās hammered Tipp in Claughaun earlier that day.
Weāll enjoy the win; and the players will take great confidence from this.
But they expected to win today and so did most of the supporters, I think. Particularly after the Tipp team was named; we knew we were good enough to win.
Itās all very well to enjoy it, but it wasnāt a brilliant performance. Theyāll be examining the things that went wrong and we have to work on them if we want to win the All-Ireland, which is the aim, obviously.
There were soft frees conceded, some sloppy turnovers, bad wides, a couple of aimless runs away from support, basic skills in terms of pick-ups and first touch let us down on a few occasions. I thought we had two big lull periods, and never should have been down at half-time or with 10 minutes to go.
All those are obviously in addition to the good things- the tackling was excellent, the use of the ball from the backs was mostly superb, our players covered lots of ground, they opened up space for each other; and most impressive of all was that confidence & composure to see out the victory. The Tipp goals were responded to in great fashion. Nobody should be cutting any of the players in any situation, but constructive criticism is always needed.
In terms of personnel, Iād say only one change is needed; the setup in general was good, just a bit more finetuning to perfect it.
Quaid was solid, puck outs massively improved this year, has kept the couple over the sideline though.
Finn is simply one of our best players, heās super.
Hickey is being rode by the management, theyāve fucked this one up badly.
English, good overall but weaknesses shown up again and Iām afraid they are going to cost us.
Byrnes, super, he was always capable of it, brilliant.
Hannon hurled a storm.
Morrissey very solid, always does the right thing with the ball.
Lynch was good but we expect and need more from him, more to come. Needs support.
OāDonovan, i dont get it, lads being distracted by two and a half monster sidelines and a point from a pass given to him at the end of the first half. I donāt think he struck another ball? Gave a handpass for a score too actually. I was surprised he lasted so long, played his way off the team for me.
Hegarty, the man just never tires.
Hayes, great player but wasnāt in the game at all.
Morrissey, pick of the half forwards, unless he was adjudged to have run his race from the GPS then it was a mad decision to take him off ahead of Hayes and Flanagan. Heās not perfect but he did great work.
Gillane is mad impressive, heās come from not even being on the panel to being a lethal starting forward. Look forward to seeing how he gets on against Spillane.
Flanagan, wasnāt his day.
Mulcahy, great to see that performance from him, really surprised he was taken off when he was, had he faded out of it that much.
Edit: thatās a fucking great start and we should be all out to win Munster. This looks like the basis of a team that will compete for 5 years. Weāre back.
I think we want both Tipp & Clare to be beaten next week.
In an ideal world Clare will already have been eliminated by the time we go there.
