The widow of an RUC reservist murdered by the IRA in 1991 has said seeing a video of Limerick’s All-Ireland winning hurling team singing a song which glorifies an IRA man was hurtful.

It’s not a great message of inclusivity though for a member of the unionist community with a passing interest in hurling like Mrs Carrothers.

It wasn’t a very appropriate song to be singing. Sean South was a paramilitary criminal. It’s not that long ago that scum from South’s criminal gang were killing officers of this state in Adare, the home of the Limerick captain.

I thought the images of horses leading the bus were in bad taste too when you consider the myriad of deaths of horses due to neglect and downright cruelty throughout limerick.
Overall this celebration when you throw in the glorification of alcohol abuse has shown limerick in an extremely negative light and only copperfastens the tainted reputation the city unfairly holds.

Not to mention Glynn being rotated out to wing forward having not got a sniff of it and Casey then seeing off the next misfortune that came in to him. If he’d stayed on the field he was MOTM and an all star I thought. Considering all the pressure and attention on him, he was immense.
