He’s a good hurler who has regularly performed for Limerick.
He is actually unfairly panned by a lot of the Limerick hurling fraternity who would rather see some soft tippy-tappy cunt in the middle of the park. And then when he doesn’t play, the opposition walk all over us in midfield and they wonder why.
Richie English facing big test weekend touch was poor last week Casey looked a bit better David Dempsey set up goal but was very quiet. Cian Lynch well was cian lynch corner forward position has no time to flick ball or any that rubbish
Byrnes I could be wrong is playing for Limerick cause he wants to win things not for the CV or job opportunties. I’m massive fan to this date I’ll never get how he wasn’t on panel before 2016
I disagree, he has proved over the course of his intercounty career that he is a fine option. Our best player in the Munster final win of 2013 (albeit in the half-forward line), part of a duo that dominated against McGrath & Woodlock in 2014, blew Clare’s midfield out of in 2015 (probably the only player in the pitch that played well) and was again one of our best players against Clare last year when the rest of the team was underperforming. He’s generally consistent.
If there are a couple of better midfielders than him in Limerick, that would be great. It’s up to O’Donovan & O’Donoghue to prove that they are better.
Now he had a very poor outing against Galway, if that were to continue, that would be a huge worry and he would lose his place. But I expect he’ll bounce back.
Was on Coen serious midfielder won’t be on better unless play Kk id rate Coen and Burke second only to Fennelly and Fogarty deyd be ahead of Breen and Maher of tipp
Coen & Burke are impressive, but I don’t think that excuses Jim-Bob’s performance tbh. Midfield is a position where even if the other midfield are going well, you should be able to make an impact too. He was strangely out of the game, normally he gets on the ball way more than anybody else and I’d say he was on it less than most.
I expect a huge improvement from him next weekend if he does start. Might be dropped to wake him up a bit.
I think Kiely has been consistent enough with his selections?
It would be a big surprise at this stage if Richie Mc doesn’t start at 3. Hannon will start at 6. I think Nash will start at 14.
Which leaves 11. I think Hegarty is his preferred choice, but hasn’t really shone against the stronger teams. Could still start there but may go for Hayes, Lynch, Dempsey or Morrissey.
Kiely has given lots of people chances but for the most part, you can see his preferred team coming together. Of course, these days you have to have at least 5 good subs aswell. Fresh legs from the bench are huge, and it’s vital that they are used at the right time. Probably something we didn’t do against Galway- left players on who were struggling and 3 of the subs came on with no time to change anything.
Is English an intercounty corner back should finn get chance this weekend selection interestin.Dec will be 6 we knew that the moment Adare decided to put him back dere last year
Can you point out where i had a go at Seamus Hickey or Gavin O Mahony there like a good lad! Also i never lauded William O Donoghue i said i would persist with him for another couple of games because he has the attributes to develop into a good midfield player. Hardly “lauding” him. Anyway your not exactly infallible yourself, weren’t you the gobshite who said Brit Assombalonga wouldnt score 10 goals for Forest the season they bought him and he had 15 by Christmas?! I will agree with you on one thing though, Hickey does get an awful lot of unfair flack off Limerick supporters
Worst thing that ever happened Byrne’s was scoring those 3 points against Clare.
I still rate the lad and hope to god he turns out good but fellas on here and elsewhere were making him out to be the second coming. He needs to relax on the Hail Mary shooting.
