This management team would not allow players to play Hurling Championship with their clubs on Friday night last. “Officially” they were allowed play but in reality some players were pulled aside and told not to play. Fucking disgraceful carry on. The U21 management carried on with the same shit a few weeks ago.
I think the Munster final and AI semi final of 2014 were bigger, mate!
Relaxed enough ahead of the weekend. The league has been a success already imo. Anything other than a heavy defeat and we can face into Clare with a positive mindset. Of course if we are beaten the fair weather fans will be slating Kiely, Kinnerk, all the players etc. Win and the local media will go buck ape as the hype machine oils her engine.
Should be a decent crowd, Galway actually had a big following a few weeks ago for what was essentially a dead rubber.
Was meant to be going racing in Mallow but the luxurious confines of the open stand it’ll be.
Tim hat on but I can see where the minor football management are coming from. Training for the last few months and then you’ve players down to play championship hurling matches five days before the season opener. Not unreasonable that they’d prefer uninterrupted preparations imo.
It’s a sticky one though. Players put in an impossible situation if they’ve to tell their friends and club men that they can’t play. And the club in turn has to do without their better players for championship hurling matches. It wouldn’t happen the other way round with club football fixed five days before an intercounty minor hurling match.
What a I see with young lads is there only mad not to play for their clubs because of county commitments. Hanging around the pitch waiting For people to ask them why they are not playing then.
