It’s only right someone mentioned this. It’s hard to see the same class being reciprocated.
I can see where you’re coming from alright. It’s a tough one to balance because schadenfreude is really frowned upon by many here too.
I see the regular obsessive outsiders are seething and struggling in equal amounts due to the fact the majority of Limerick posters for once knew they had little chance of winning yesterday.Move along!
Great to see a few of the Limerick supporters up early today who toddled home quietly after the match & refrained from drinking to excess last night.
Kyle Hayes perchant for bouncing the ball of the ground despite only having taken one catch is a very annoying and self indulgent trait. Kiely would do well to nip that in the bud.
Hickey to corner back and O’Mahoney and Byrnes to 5 and 7. Jim Bob and McCarthy need to go. McCarthy was hopeless. What was he at sauntering out to the 65 on numerous occasions? He pretty much got bottled up every time, silly carry on. His positioning for the penalty was like a timid under 12 hurler under a high ball
What’s done is done and cannot be undone. For to go back would be as tedious as to go forward.
What’s that about like ? Bizarre.
You are spot on. You can add Quaid, James Ryan and Mulcahy to the list. I have to say I hate seeing hurlers doing that unless required. Hayes was very good, left O’Connor for dead at one stage and shows great ability to win dirty ball on his own. We go again and well done Clare.
Lynch did it as well in traffic and got caught in the first half.
He is from a faux football area. He probably thinks he has to hop the ball when soloing
It was Gearoid O’Connell he dusted. He did well yesterday and looks a very good prospect. Assume he will be centre back long term.
Gave the game another look today. We had enough possession to win the game comfortably. Far too many Hail Mary shots in the first half, leading to 11 wides. I wasn’t a fan of Mulcahy starting but what can he do but watch the ball sail over his head?
Richie Mccarthy was directly/indirectly responsible for about 2-7 of Clare total yesterday. The amount of times he won clean ball found himself in space and still.proceeded to solo into trouble is something you’d kickback under 12s hole for if you saw him doing it.
While I am all for looking up.and trying to find a man in a better position, there are times when you just have to get the fucking ball out of there and if that means whacking the thing up the field then so be it.
Secondly when in a scoring position , take your fucking score. The last ten minutes were absolute classic examples of that yesterday. Clare were 7/8 up with ten minutes to go. They had relaxed a bit. Limerick got five or six chances in that period and instead of tapping g them over, they tried to work it in.
Limericks biggest sin by far though was not closing Clare down on their own puck out.
Our half back line was motoring well and had we forced them to go long we would have got more out of it. But no. We stood back and allowed them to work the ball up the field time and time again. Getting caught out of position.
Textbook errors in some cases.
Yeah they panicked big time really was plenty time left
Is he the Doon No. 1?
Don’t know much about him. What’s his history and form?
It is the same failings Mike. Last year when we forced them to go long we cleaned up in the hb line, the same yesterday but we continued to let them have a short puck out. Mulcahy does not have the physicality required. It is time to stop, he does not go past a man, at least Morrissey or Nash will take his man on. Richie McCarthy Is what he is, a junior hurler. Again put English in there and move on, O’Meara will take over in the next year or so for me, he has plenty about him.
Yep. It was almost like a football match. While I’m not saying they would have caught them, they could have had the deficit down to three or four before the goal came
They could have picked off three or four scores, let’s not delude ourselves though, Clare missed three or four chances in the same period with Reidy very poor from the frees.
I have to go back to the Tipp match in 2014.
Even when the Tipp second goal went in we didn’t panic. Picked off our points and kept plugging away until the goal came from Dowling. Granted we had OGRADY. But yesterday was the time for one of the older heads like Hickey or Browne to calm things down and pick off scores.
