I reckon it could depend on who wins the quarter final between Wexford and Galway.
If itās Kilkenny v Galway in the other semi final they could play a double header in Thurles, assuming that was agreeable to the Limerick CB number crunchers.
Alternatively a straight toss for home advantage.
Tipp - Wexford semi final was at a neutral venue last year so maybe a spin to Cork as a dress rehearsal for the June Bank Holiday weekend wouldnāt be too bad eitherā¦ None of our lads have played there yet.
Ah here, English is playing savage stuff, I like Casey but not a chance in hell he starts against Tipp ahead of English. Peter Casey and David Dempsey should be absolute certs to start though and they are the only 2 at this stage. I thought Byrnes hurled well enough yesterday. Those Patrickswell boys all have a bit of an edge to them. All 3 certain starters
Maybe not as he wonāt have time to play his way in ahead of him. English is a smashing player and I have no problem with him starting. However, he still gives away soft frees and is very liable to drop the ball out of his hand or be dispossessed or give a big loopy handpass. Good teams will allow short puck outs to English and Hickey all day long and then target them. Finn McCarthy Casey for me.
Gillane flaked Jack Browne off the ball a few minutes before his 1st goal near the open stand. He wouldāve seen red if the linesman had seen it, needs to cool the jets a small bit on another day we wouldāve seen red for sure.
Certainly its fantastic to see the lads been able to mix it. Just needs to be a bit more controlled especially in the summer when there is far more attention on the game.
Weāll need everyone on the fieldā¦canāt afford stupid suspensions.
Tbf, he had his hand on OāDonnells back each time and we all know the saying.
I was impressed with Limerick yesterday for the following reasons,
they look really fit & well Conditioned
work rate is extremely good
new players definitely the pick so far
substitutions making a big impact, depth of panel impressive.
Negatives,
concession of frees, way too many
shooting accuracy is poor
distribution from the backs, Hickey & Byrnes were woeful yesterday
All in all they have definitely made strides forward this year. Flanagan & Gillane look like forwards to be building around as opposed to whether theyāll make starting team come Championship.
I saw Kinnerick entering the field remonstrating with officials again yesterday, that needs to be nipped in bud as it will drive referees against the team in 50/50 calls.
Also, starting games as slowly as they have done in the previous 2 games wonāt do going forward. How Kiely counters this issue is key.
Finally, Byrnes. Obviously a fine hurler but he seems a tad uncontrollable to me. Again yesterday he was involved in off the ball stuff and was generally poor in conceding frees while again his distribution to the forwards was very average. Does this guy need a spell on the bench?
A few fair points. I thought it looked harsh from the stands but tv and replays make things clearer. I think we are a long way off Tipperary but a game against them in two weeks should bring us on even more.
I think the work rate currently on show from LK could rattle Tippās relatively inexperienced players.
LK will be different to anything theyāve faced in 1A dependent on Beating Dublin of course.
Fear Iād have for LK is the scores they are conceding, 30 points yesterday is a massive total to be conceding.
Qualification from the Munster round-robin would be the thing for me. A Munster Final appearance would be nice, but not vital. In fact, the extra game at that stage could even be a hindrance.
Once you make an AI quarter-final it opens up and anything can happen. The qualified Munster teams will be battle hardened but Galway, Wexford and Kilkenny, who will come through the weaker Leinster group will arguably be fresher.
